..THE NEGATIVE SCRIBE..

^_^
To sum it up, we have 6 years of elementary education and 4 years of secondary education and we in the negative are still convinced that 10 years is enough to spend in our basic education. So I therefore say that the Philippines should not have 12 years of basic education. Lets face reality. As we all know, Philippines is a Third-World Country and its most of its citizen dont have the capacity and the resources like of 1st world Countries, like U.S. and U.K. to send their children in 12 years of basic education. Imagine this scenario. You are a tatay of 3-5 and you dont have a stable job. Which would you prefer? Basic necessities like food and shelter or sending your children to school? Of course, to live and survive, we need food and shelter. So wheres the place for education? No where right? In the present days, we already have 10 years of BEC, but as you can remember the drop out rate stated by my team mate a while ago, you will be freaked out to imagine how 2 more years would add burden to all the citizen esp. to the sides of the parents. Having K-10 instead of K-12 as the norms of the society doesnt mean youre left behind the needs and standards of the modern world. We have many products of K-10 Curriculum, wherein they achieved something for our country like, the group of young Filipino math wizards who gathered a total of 24 gold, 32 silver and 44 bronze medals in the 20-nation 2009 Philippine International Mathematics Competitions (PIMC), last held in July at Iloilo City. Another is a micro-tremor device developed by a team of Philippine Science High School students who won a special award at the 2008 Intel Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Atlanta, Georgia. The team -- composed of Adrian Patacsil, Marvin Paolo Ambrosio and Rachel Ruth Cahilig won the Distinguished Achievement Award given by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists to projects that display excellence related to the geophysical sciences. There is no solid evidence that adding 2 more years to our Basic Education Curriculum would guarantee better students. Instead, it will surely guarantee more expenses and it will just be a burden for each and one of us. Our K-10 Curriculum is enough. The problem is within the Government or sometimes, the problem is within the student himself and not the Curriculum.

Every opening of the classes here in the Philippines, the primary and steady problems are the lack of national budget, classrooms, chairs & tables, textbooks and the lack of qualified teachers. Keeping our present system with honest to goodness in preparing our teachers for academic purpose will surely benefit the students academically and the preparedness as assets of this country. However much, the number of years to educate our young is nothing if the mentors are not academically excellent and committed in their chosen vocation. The profession of teaching will not guarantee children for a solid foundation. We therefore submit that the ff. be noted:
a. That we keep the present system. b. Educate the teachers. c. Cooperate with parents and help them in using their funds for

education. d. A more aggressive educational program that are geared towards academic excellence for the teachers. And so, we submit respectfully, presenting to you our humble petition that education for the mentors is one of the best preparation for success, and not adding 2 more years of nonsense. In todays debate, the negative team has proven 3 major things why the Philippines should not have 12 years of Basic Education. First, weve discussed the Disadvantages of having 12 years of BEC through our economic means. Second, the incapacity & lack of resources of the govt and its citizens to handle K-12. Finally, we have shown evidences that another 2 years would be a burden in this nation. In light of this facts, the right thing to do is to keep the present system and improve it. I once again repeat that, Philippines should not have 12 years of Basic Education. Please vote negative. Thank you.
