Casual dress, but not casual worship. That is what I am telling those I invite to church at Eastmont. Ive been going door to door in our church neighborhood and inviting people to be here at Eastmont. Here is what Ive noticed, almost all the men I invite dont own a suit. Those who do own one tell me, I cant wear it anymore, I think it shrunk. So I tell them that most of our men dont wear ties. We believe in casual dress, but not casual worship. I also mention there is sloppy casual and nice casual. The latter works best for most of Eastmont. By the way I counted four of those neighbors there at the Easter drama. Easter Sundays worship service will include wonderful songs of praise, baptism of four new converts, childrens message, a generous offering to God, prayer of confession and revival, and encouraging fellowship. My sermon will include the resurrection, but will mostly focus on our mission to the world around us. While all scripture is essential, this message is specifically needed. Satan has already put obstacles in my way to prevent me from preaching it, so I desire your interceding prayer. The scripture passage is Colossians 4:2-6. All people matter to God. That is why we do not exclude anyone from attending here. We just open our doors and whoever shows up is welcome. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. We welcome: the long hair, gray hair, and the no hair. The bifocals and the contacts, the tattoos, and wrinkles. The starting student and the retired learner. I delight in the diversity of it all. I remind you this is Gods church, not ours. Jesus said, I will build my church. It belongs to Him. Humanly speaking, he has left running it up to us. None of us is as smart as all of us. That is why we have deacons, ministry teams, and committees. No one person can do it all or should do it all. We honor God best when all share in the work. I work 50+ hours each week, but that is a drop in the bucket compared to what you do. I am not a dictator, nor micromanager. When you get great players on the team you let them use their talent. I pray earnestly for you and I ask God to direct me as your shepherd. My ministry is to lead, feed, guard and guide. More than ever I encourage you to stay the course of doing your ministry. The Haitians have a saying, Piti, piti, zwazo fe nich li - It means little by little the bird builds his nest. Parking will be tough on Easter, if your health permits, leave the parking spaces nearest the church for those who have difficulty walking long distances Ill see you resurrection Sunday,
