Welcome to D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University! My name is Donald E. Jenkins and Im the President and Co-Founder of the Purpose Development Institute in Atlanta, GA. My company is on the leading-edge of helping individuals and organizations redefine purpose for personal and organizational excellence which is a serious matter at the institute. Purpose to us is more than a discovery and passionate use of gifts and talents. We treat it as a humanitarian effort to deliver an above average wisdom and understanding in order to unleash the secrets of purpose that defines existence and increase performance. Never in the history of the world have we been able to connect with people around the globe with the click of a mouse. Social media platforms like Facebook and Linked-In, afford us the opportunity to build cyber networks at the speed of light. However, individuals still struggle with a disconcerted effort to work together in every sector of our society. As a result, organizations have attempted to make diversity a matter of polity than a tool for social and economic change. Business leaders must realize that as long as diversity initiatives remain black and white text on a sheet of paper, the potential of diversity will never reach the heart of the people that make up our diverse society. When diversity programs remain text on a piece of paper, it will lack the backbone to withstand the rigors of a changing culture which leaves individuals in a place to compromise diversity under certain conditions. My D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University is a didactic solution for the human soul to strengthen the backbone of diversity in the workplace by building a community of purpose among employees. If you desire to experience the brilliance of the transforming power of diversity in your organization, let me serve you with our D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University resources to show you how serious we are about transforming diversity from a policy into a purpose.

Purpose Development and Diversity

Purpose Development is the result of 23 years of exploring ancient wisdom, developing new models of understanding and modeling practical principles regarding the subject of purpose. It has evolved into what we call disruptive insight which is defined as the ability to break down barriers that challenge the existence and performance of humanity. Purpose Development disrupts the current school of thought regarding purpose. It explores the sophistication of mans design and his appetite for purpose in order to reveal new models of understanding how purpose affect every facet of our life. As a result, individuals are empowered to easily add meaning to known systems and relationships and develop a high performing character to achieve personal and professional excellence. At the institute we understand that individuals are just as sophisticated as a high performance sports car. We dont expect for them to perform like an Enzo Ferrari with a Yugo mentality. Our approach to adding purpose to the workplace is to reveal the design technology under the hood of the human soul so that individuals can achieve peak performance in their personal and professional life. The question for 21st Century Business leaders is not, what are the barriers that hinder how employees exist and perform in the workplace, but how can they add a greater sense of purpose to increase the way employees exist and perform? We have put together one of the most comprehensive, thought provoking diversity trainings on the market. Our purpose is to help individuals extend their range of purpose to add meaning to a diverse workforce. We are the pioneers in Purpose Development Coaching and our proprietary approach to purpose in the workplace is guaranteed to blow a fresh wind of purpose for diversity within your organization.
Employers must stop expecting their employees to perform like an Enzo Ferrari with a Yugo mentality when it comes to diversity. People are not only different but they share a sophistication that allows them to build a community of purpose to promote diversity. Donald JenkinsMaster Purpose Development Coach

Discrimination and Purpose

Discrimination is defined as the treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. It can have a cancerous affect on an organization and ruin a corporate image overnight if its not treated in the early stages. Even when it appears to be nonexistence in a corporate setting, business leaders must be proactive in creating a healthy culture that does not afford discrimination the opportunity to undermine the vision of the organization. Stakeholders and executives can never take for granted that organizational leaders have done everything to prevent discrimination from ruining its corporate image, because its a virus that continues to find ways around discrimination firewalls. In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote, We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. This statement has been peppered in speeches throughout the ages to bring awareness to the fact that humanity is a unique class that is comprised of different races with equal rights. With all due respect for Mr. Jeffersons insight to humanity, a more appropriate statement would read, all men are created to expand their capacity for a higher purpose. We must realize that when the capacity for a higher purpose is not exercised, individuals will harbor discriminatory biases to reduce others to classes based on race, creed, age, sexual orientation, etc. The fact remains that we do not have an equal rights issue in our society, but a lack of purpose epidemic. Many well intentioned organizations have designed programs to promote equal rights, but ignored the fact that if we do not address the lack of purpose epidemic in our corporate settings, discrimination will continue to soften the impact that businesses can make in our society. Business leaders in the 21st Century must be abreast with the latest EEO compliance, and they must also master the insight on how to help individuals comply with a higher purpose. Purpose is the chemotherapy that destroys the cancerous effect of discrimination. Todays leaders must skillfully use it to fortify their diversity initiatives and create an environment where individuals are willing to expand their capacity to serve a higher purpose.

Misguided Purpose
At the institute, weve identified a major hindrance in keeping people from expanding their capacity for purpose which leads to a Misguided Purpose. We define a Misguided Purpose when a person defines themselves or their race in the perceived power they have over others. The sickness is the result of their choice to feed their appetite for power and starve their appetite for purpose. Our mission is to sound the alarm so that business leaders can be aware that an appetite for power, not tempered by feeding the appetite for purpose is reflected in the form of Bigotry and Racism. Yes these are strong words to address corporate diversity concerns, but we must start here in order to identify the enemy of diversity and inspire individuals to serve a higher purpose. Bigotry is often used to describe a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than their own especially when it comes to race, creed and religion. Its the root of Racism which occurs when a person believes that their race is more superior to others. Simply put, both are the products of a low Purpose IQ in which we define as the insight to know how purpose affect the way an individual think, speak and behave in order to develop a sense of purpose to win the Game of Life. The victim of Bigotry and Racism is not those in whom the intent is targeted, but the people who allow themselves to be the instruments of a Misguided Purpose. They fail to realize that the Game of Life requires the appetite for purpose to be prioritized over the appetite for power. In cases where the appetite for power rules the appetite for purpose is in the animal kingdom. Racial arrogance is akin to animalistic pride that makes an animal more superior than other animals. In short, we must realize that pride and power rules the animal kingdom, but purpose rules in the class of those in search for a higher purpose. At the institute, we declare that life is not a playground, but its a game that must be played with a strong sense of purpose. The Game of Life must be seized as an opportunity to combine character with a sense of purpose in order to maximize skills for success as a person and as a professional. Unlike animals that lack the insight to a higher purpose, we must remember to temper our appetite for power by feeding our appetite for purpose. Each day we must challenge ourselves to fight against the enemy of diversity which is called pride and feed our appetite for purpose in order to raise our Purpose IQ. We must view each person as an opportunity to not win the war against races, but a major component to help us win the Game of Life.

Policy vs. Purpose

Another matter of concern for 21st Century business leaders is that corporate policy cannot be the sole means for eradicating the effects of discrimination in the workplace. A good diversity program will take into account that people must be prepared to play the Game of Life. In short, diversity programs must come to life in the employee in order to experience bottomline results for the organization. Without this consideration, companies will have talent that can perform a job with self-effort, but fail incorporating the talents of others to provide creative solutions which comes from diversity. The mark of great talent is that it treasures the opportunity to combine character with a strong sense of purpose because it keeps individuals on the cutting-edge of who they are as a person and as a professional. The person with discriminatory biases will settle for mediocrity as they confine their thoughts, speech and actions to the class of an animal which has limited potential. The fact remains that when diversity remains just a policy, the company and the employee are the ultimate losers in the end. In order to change this trend, leaders must remember that Policy empowers the organization, but Purpose empowers the people. No longer can business leaders afford to empower the organization at the expense of empowering the people with a greater purpose. People fuels the economic engine of the corporate enterprise and when the appetite for purpose is not being fed, the engine will cease to run. The same is true when it comes to diversity within the workplace. If it remains text written on a piece of paper, individuals will struggle moving diversity from their head to their heart. As a result, the true potential of diversity will not be fully realized because diversity is a function of purpose and not a matter of policy. Business leaders must remember that discrimination is an attempt to feed the appetite for power to the point of destroying and disrespecting differences in people, but feeding the appetite for purpose will deliver a greater value for differences. When diversity remains just a policy, individuals are forced like animals to embrace differences, but when it becomes a matter of purpose, the focus of diversity will shift to the Common Core.

The Common Core

Again, the focus of most diversity programs is the differences that exist among employees. A major problem with this approach to diversity is that it can lose its backbone under certain conditions. Focusing on differences is a great place to start when it comes to educating people about embracing diversity in the workplace, but it comes up short in helping them to turn diversity into a purpose. Remember that the Game of Life requires that the appetite for purpose be prioritized over the appetite for power. It begins by realizing that every person has a Common Core which is their capacity for a higher purpose. When people expand their capacity for a higher purpose, they transform their character to develop a greater appreciation for the existence and performance of humanity. The beauty about the Common Core is that it sees diversity as a necessary component to view life through more than one lens. It realizes that viewing life through only one lens is a serious handicap that allows individuals to feel more superior than others. Individuals who view life through one lens, limit themselves to solutions to solve lifes problems. On the contrary, when individuals open the aperture of purpose, multiple solutions will emerge to address lifes problems and diversity will become a work of art. Recently, Discover magazine reported that 99% of earths gold is missing because it sank to the center of the earths core. The same is true for the human race, purpose is like gold and its at the core of the existence for every person. Its a reminder that although we appear to be different on the outside, we have a Common Core that unites our differences to make a mark in the world. The Common Core is what empowers individuals with a greater appreciation for the existence and performance of humanity so that they can have backbone to provide solutions to lifes problems. Its what every business leader need to jumpstart the D.I.V.E.R.S.E. Cycle to achieve corporate goals.

The D.I.V.E.R.S.E. Cycle

Our D.I.V.E.R.S.E. Cycle is a major contributor in helping business leaders transform their organizations diversity policy into a purpose. It consists of the Seven Vertebraes of Purpose which produces the cycle of cooperation among employees. When business leaders understand how to skillfully incorporate the Seven Vertebraes of Purpose in building a culture, they will create an environment where a diverse group of people can harmonize in their work. We have a saying at the D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University that says, you provide the talent and we will show you how to make the different notes create music. Let us help your leaders create a world where diversity has a meaning with a backbone to unite differences.

The Seven Vertebras of Purpose

The cervical vertebrae are the most flexible part of the spine that anchors the head to the rest of the body. Without it, collaboration between the head and the body would be impossible. The same is true for our Seven Vertebraes of Purpose. Without them, diversity in the workplace will interfere with the functions of corporate head/vision and the corporate body.

D = encourages each employee to Discover the role of purpose in people and the workplace

Head or Vision of Organization

R = encourages employees to Respect the contribution of others

I = encourages each employee to use their sense of purpose to Invest in the right attitudes and behavior S = encourages employees to use their sense of purpose to create Synergy in their relationship with others

V = encourages each employee to Value the purpose of others

E = encourages employees to use their sense of purpose to put Energy into working with others

E = encourages employees to use their knowledge of purpose to create Excitement for diversity

Corporate Body

Each vertebra provides insight to the actions that are required to build a community of purpose to strengthen the backbone of diversity within the workplace. As a result, employees are able to cooperate in their work as they allow the corporate vision to impact the corporate body. The key to organizational success is what happens between the head and the body that causes a diverse mix of talent to meet organizational goals. How well an organization build a community of purpose among employees will determine the success of the organization.

Diversity Courage
Having a diversity program with backbone is translated into Diversity Courage. We define it as your employees ability to Discover the role of purpose in the workplace, while Investing in purposeful attitudes and behaviors. Its revealed when your employees begin to Value the purpose of other people over their individual effort. Diversity Courage provides the Energy to get the job done while Respecting the contribution of others. When Diversity Courage is the driving force in an organization, productivity will be measured by the Synergy that comes from the Excitement of a community of purpose. When a community of purpose exists in your organization, employees will have the courage to break the ranks of being average to embrace the process of transforming diversity from a policy to a purpose that serves a higher purpose. D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University
Mr. Nikos Mourkogiannis, noted business expert and Co-Creator of the Harvard Law School on Negotiations states, Purpose is the game of champions. Only strong minded men and women, adults with powerful intellects, real character and spines of steel are suited for it. At the institute, we have taken Mr. Mourkogiannis words to heart. We believe that not only is purpose the game of champions, but one of the most mismanaged resources in business. If business leaders fail in mastering the insight on how to turn purpose into a resource, they will remain amateurs on a champions field when it comes to managing a diverse mix of talent. Due to a lack of insight on how to mine the potential of purpose, many dysfunctions abound in the workplace which allows diversity initiatives to remain a policy instead of a purpose that can be mastered by all people. The D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University is one of the most comprehensive, thought-provoking diversity trainings on the market. Our approach to diversity is based on the sophistication of human nature in that we focus on the most important resource that is common to all people called purpose. We support the fact that all men were created equally, but we also believe that all men were created to expand their capacity for a higher purpose. Discrimination to us is an outright refusal to expand the capacity for a higher purpose. Its a disease that can be cured with a healthy dose of purpose in which we provide with our D.I.V.E.R.S.E. Cycle. At the D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University, diversity policies meet the purpose for diversity. We dont build or reinforce firewalls for discrimination, but create purposeful attitudes and behaviors to fight against it. Individuals are taught how to recognize diversity as a higher calling to expand their capacity for purpose to help strengthen the backbone of diversity within an organization. Our curriculum is designed to help individuals master the Seven Vertebraes of Purpose to fortify the diversity standing among employees. Each student is introduced to our disruptive insight to remove challenges that become barriers to the existence and performance of humanity. Its the key to giving them a greater appreciation for the existence and performance of humanity. The D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University is essential for organizations who are serious about enhancing their diversity initiatives. Its a key component to help employees add meaning to an evolving workplace and keeping them on the cutting-edge of who they are as a person and as a professional.

Diversity Essentials
The reason we created the D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University is because there are some essential elements that must be put in place in order to transform diversity from a policy into a purpose. Below is a list of key essentials that we use to help your organization find its diversity purpose.

Purpose IQ: Again, we believe that all discrimination is the result of a low Purpose IQ. We
are the pioneers in Purpose IQ insight and know what it takes to help your employees master the insight to elevate their Purpose IQ for personal and professional success.

Master Coaching: We believe that the Diversity-Purpose mix requires mastery. As a result, we
provide 23 years of Master Purpose Development Coaching to help our clients master the insight to anchor their diversity programs to a higher purpose. Mastery to us is not measured in how much an individual knows, but in the time they spend in opening their mind and spirit to create a flood of insight to allow their art to become an extension of who they are. Diversity, like purpose, is an art form that can be mastered and we are ready to help our clients become a master in diversity.

Repurposed for Success: The success of a diversity program is not measured in how
educated your workforce is on how to embrace differences, but in how well you repurpose your workforce to embrace the differences they will face in the workplace. When your workforce is Repurposed for Success, it creates an environment where diversity is celebrated and not tolerated.

Sustainable Purpose: Sustaining diversity can be difficult to achieve without a Sustainable

Purpose in which we define as the ability to harvest the purpose of human capital in order to establish congruency between people and the environment they work in. Not only did we define a Sustainable Purpose, but we are the masters in helping our clients achieve its goals.

Purpose Fit: A company that is Purpose Fit is fit for diversity, and a company thats not,
will struggle to move diversity beyond the written text of a policy. The sum total of our effort is to make sure your company is fit for a higher purpose.

Training Options:
Listed below are the training options, but keep in mind that all of our programs can be custom designed to meet the needs of our clients.

On site group training:

Mr. Jenkins will provide his Master Purpose Development Coaching skills to conduct an on site group training to empower your employees to move diversity from their head to their heart in a dramatic fashion.

Train the trainers:

If your organization has trainers and you prefer that your trainers deliver the training content, we can create a train the trainer format specifically for your organization.

Online content delivery platform:

For large organizations, we have the option of creating an online D.I.V.E.R.S.E. University content delivery platform for your organization. Each employee will be able to join an online community by creating a profile to access MP3 and video content along with training documents for downloads. They will also be able to interact with other members to share ideas to help increase organizational performance. Again, Mr. Jenkins provides all the training to help employees master the necessary skills for adding backbone to your diversity program.
