THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

Michelangelo once turned to a fellow artist and said with frustration in his voice, Why do you keep filling gallery after gallery with endless pictures on the one theme of Christ in weakness, Christ on the cross, and most of all, Christ hanging dead? he asked. Why do you concentrate on the passing episode as if it were the last work, as if the curtain dropped down there on disaster and defeat? That dreadful scene lasted only a few hours. But to the unending eternity Christ is alive; Christ rules and reigns and triumphs. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead. I want to suffer with Him, sharing in His death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! (Philippians 3:10-11). What Im about to say may come as a surprise to you. That is, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is all about power. When I say this, I dont just mean the divine power that raised Jesus from the dead. Of course, that kind of power is absolutely miraculous, and it could come only from God himself. Christs resurrection speaks of another power in addition to that supernatural event. And this power could only come from God as well. Im talking about a power that causes us to live holy livesto be free from sins dominionto overcome every habit and lust known to manto walk in a righteousness that comes from God alone, by faith. CHANGE OF SCHEDULE: Just a reminder that my flexible schedule is now just 16 hours per week. I am available, generally, on Monday and Wednesday of each week. I will continue teaching the Harmony Class and preaching on Sunday evenings. Of course, I will remain available for emergencies or other special needs.
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY:

Our current series on the Friends of Paul will continue over the next several weeks. This week, March 31, we will be examining Timothy, The Understudy. In coming weeks, we will be meeting Luke, Aquilla/Priscilla, Phillip and Demas. If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. Communion is available for those who desire. Once again, I remind you that we now have activities for children each Sunday evening.
WEDNESDAYS: Our two study groups resumed on March 27. Both, the 10:00 am and 6:30 pm study groups are involved in a verseby-verse study of Philippians. Why not join us for the new study? SENIOR SAINTS IN THE SMOKIES: Last Sunday, March 24, we presented a video about this great gathering. It is held on the Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) campus, in Knoxville, TN. Some of us have been participating for over 20 years. We will be attending May 27-31. I already, have commitments from 6-8 people (including me). This is a great week of inspiration and relaxation for seniors. (I call it summer camp for seniors.) We, always, enjoy the special fellowship we have as we travel together in our vans. If you have questions or would like registration information, see me!

No Mens Fraternity on Tuesday, April 2nd. Our next meeting is Tuesday, April 16th.

FINAL THOUGHT: (I really liked this one the first time I heard it!) The only exercise some folk get is jumping to conclusions, running down their friends, sidestepping responsibility and pushing their luck.

Last week in Childrens Church, we learned about when our Lord and Savior Jesus was crucified. We learned about this perfect man that died to save our sins. For a lot of people (especially kids) this is a tough concept to grasp, even I cant believe it sometimes! So we used an illustration. We took a hardboiled egg (something very synonymous to Easter time) and named sins that we deal with each day. Every sin, I wrote in black ink onto the egg until it was completely covered. It was dark, dirty, messy and hard; Much like our hearts before we know Jesus. As we cracked and peeled away the shell, we realized that the inside was clean, pure and soft! This is what happened when Jesus died for our sins! He took away our ugly and dirty shells and left us clean and pure. Sometimes eggs crack and chip, but thats ok! We sometimes sin too, but God still forgives us! So after Jesus went to Heaven, the Holy Spirit entered our hearts; Open up a hardboiled egg and you will find a big yellow center that represents Jesus inside of us! Hannah

resurrection the act of rising from the dead. a rising again, as from decay, disuse, etc.; revival. In scripture Jesus is described as the first fruits from the dead, the firstborn among many. Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He died so that we too might die to self and rise to new life as sons and daughters of God. This is the beauty of baptism. I give up my life and surrender to be buried with Christ so that I, like Him, am raised to a new life that is lived to and for the glory of God. What do you and I need to surrender today, to die to self and live for Him? What can Jesus raise you from today? Are you ready to walk in a new life, led by the Spirit of God? Let today be your resurrection day. Follow Jesus out of the darkness into the marvelous light of Gods glory.

WHITEWATER RAFTING TRIP

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

Their workMissionaries to Mexico through the CMF Mission. Caleb and Dawn will join the campus ministry team in Puebla to focus on ministry to the university students. This years special offering on Resurrection Sunday will support the mission work of Caleb and Dawn Christman. Caleb and Dawn have been involved in student ministry for over 10 years. They graduated from Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University) in 2000, Dawn went on to get her master's in education, and Caleb spent a year in Papua New Guinea with Pioneer Bible Translators. After getting married in 2002, they began their first youth ministry at Pickerington Christian Church, working with children and students. After 3 1/2 years, God called them to work alongside the staff of Troy (OH) Christian Church as their student minister, working with junior high, senior high, and college-age students. Dawn has taught in public schools over the past 10 years. Caleb and Dawn have four children, Julia (5), Zechariah (4), and Kenna (2), and Ezra (1).
