Preferences
Before playing back media, please setup appropriate settings first. To do so, select Preferences in the right-click menu or press [E] and check out the settings under different category. It is recommended to enable the DMA mode of your CD/DVD-ROM to ensure maximum performance.
Skin
Here you can select your favorite skin for the Control Panel.
Video
Please select Hardware Video Acceleration to maximize program performance. You can also customize the video appearance here.
Audio
It is recommended that you select DirectSound and Surround. DirectSound provides virtual 3D sound. It also reduces CPU loading and causes no delay between the time when Ulead DVD Player plays the sound and the time your ears hear it. Surround provides a two channel AC-3 decoder that downmixes 5.1 channel surround sound. Of course, you can still choose Stereo if you prefer this traditional sound effect.
Capture
Here you can decide where to save captured image files.
Playlist
Here you can set the playback time of an image file.
Information
Here you can find the technical information about the current disc.
Playing a disc
To play a disc, just insert the disc. Ulead DVD Player will then automatically open and start playback. (The related file formats must be associated with Ulead DVD Player in advance.) If you played a DVD using Ulead DVD Player before, a dialog box will appear and provide two playback options to play the DVD: either from the last stop point, or from the beginning.
Shuttle search
During DVD playback, you can right-click the Play or the Title Menu button to quickly move to any title or chapter. To fast forward or rewind, select Search: Forward Scan [F] or Search: Backward Scan [B] in the right-click menu. As you press the same shortcut key again and again, the playback speed changes in a loop from 2X, 4X, 8X, 32X and back to normal. For quick search, you can directly click any area within the Shuttle search controls or drag the Playback progress bar.
Viewing by bookmarks
Another way to play a DVD is to view it by the bookmarks you add.
Note: From the bookmark submenu, use Bookmark Preview to manage all bookmarks.
Note: You can also select more than one media file in Windows Explorer, and then directly drag them to the DVD Player Video Window to start playback.
To create a playlist:
1 Right-click the Control Panel or the Video Window and select Media Source: Playlist. 2 Use the left pane to locate the folder(s) containing the file(s) you want to play. 3 Select the file(s) from the upper pane and click Add or Add All to insert selected files to the playlist.
4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed. You can also click Save to save the playlist for later use. 5 Click OK to start playback. (Click Open to select an existing playlist, and then click OK to start playback.)
Note: During playback, you can right-click the Play button and quickly select any file on the playlist to play.
Capturing images
In Ulead DVD Player whenever you see a scene you want to capture, just press [G] or select Capture: Capture Image in the right-click menu to take a snapshot. Each image is captured in its original size. Depending on your settings in the Preferences dialog box, captured images are either stored in the clipboard or saved as *.bmp files. When choosing to save images as *.bmp files, you can repeat this process to uninterruptedly capture as many images as you like. All captured images are saved in the folder you assign.
