HELICOPTER AIR CREW COURSE

Scope
The Basic Air Crew course is designed to train students to operate as part of an integrated crew on board an operational helicopter. Graduates of the course are able to verbally position a helicopter into a confined area, operate a winch, assist with inflight emergencies and deal with winch failures. Graduates are trained to the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) CAO 29.11 standard.

Delivery Method
This course is divided into theory and practical components. Practical training is conducted in the AS350BA aircraft. A minimum of two students is required per course. Subjects Helicopter familiarisation and safety Publications aircraft and operational documentation Airmanship Helicopter roles Aircraft configurations Phraseology Radio telephony Weight and balance Rescue equipment Helicopter manoeuvring day operations Confined area operations Winching/hoisting operations simulated and practical Helicopter underwater escape training

Training Period
The Basic Air Crew course is 10 working days in length. All flight training is conducted on the AS350BA Squirrel helicopter. Flight training includes 6.5 hours of which 3.5 hours are under instruction.

Basic Helicopter Aircrew Training

Note: Trainees who successfully complete the course will be awarded with an Aircrew Certificate and CASA CAO 29.11 Winch Endorsement. A trainee who does not attain the minimum standard will be required to undertake further flight training at cost to the individual. Payment of the course does not guarantee award of Certificate of Competency.

Course Pre-requisites
Students will need to complete CASA Class II Aviation Medical. This can be achieved by going to the website at www.casa.gov.au type in aircrew medical and follow the prompts. Evidence of completion of the class II medical is to be presented to training staff prior to or on commencement of the first day of the course.

Cost
Cost for Basic Internal Aircrew Course is $7650.00 AUD and includes the following:

CASA approved training syllabus Issue of an aircrew training manual Issue of flight equipment such as gloves, skull cap, flight clothing and flying helmet for the period of the course Issue of CASA CAO 29.11 winch endorsement Position on our commercial HUET course at any one of our training locations

Booking requirements
Due to high demands for the course, bookings are essential. Priority will be given to individuals on a date of response basis. Student positions on the course are two plus one reserve if short notice vacancy occurs. The spare student will automatically be placed on the next available course.

Helicopter Aircrew must possess the ability to adapt quickly to multi -tasking airborne requirements whilst maintaining excellent situational awareness and the highest levels of safety and airmanship. Application for the course should only be viewed as a substantial step in shaping your career as an Aircrew Officer in the Aviation Industry.
