FROM THE PASTOR
THE EARTHQUAKE THAT CHANGED THE WORLD While most of the time, we like to think of Lent as a contemplative journey of faith as we walk with Jesus toward Jerusalem and the cross, but this year let us think of how God turned the world upside down at Calvary. From the cross, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and his life was finished. Then the earth shook violently, the curtain in the temple was torn in two and rocks were split apart. The God who identified with us in our humanity in the incarnation of Jesus Christ, demonstrated in that moment the depth of his divine love for usa love that leads God to choose the path of suffering and sacrifice. Three days later, the earth shook againanother violent earthquake, and the stone in front of the tomb was rolled away. Then the crucified Christ threw aside the burial cloths, and emerged from the darkness of the tomb to walk in the dew of the grass as dawn was breaking across the sky. God had declared victory over sin and death itself. That victory was for us. The new life we know through the risen Christ is a victory over the demonic things of this world. The Resurrection FiEGGsta Today children will take a journey through the events that happened during Passion Week. We will visit the Last Supper, Garden of Gethsemane, Calvary, and the tomb from which Jesus was resurrected. Children from ages 3 years 5th grade are welcome to attend. Join us at 10:30 a.m.

Pastor Jonathons Word of The Week

What is the Bible saying? This is a question that is asked by anyone who reads the Bible. The Bible was written over a span of thousands of years, by various authors; therefore, we must consider many of these elements when we interpreting a scripture. The Word of God is vital to our salvation, Romans 1:16, so it is of the upmost importance to know what God is saying and not what we think He is saying. Here are a few things to look for when studying and interpreting Scripture: 1. Repetition of words 2. Contrasts 3. Comparisons 4. Lists 5. Cause and effect 6. Figures of speech 7. Conjunctions 8. Verbs 9. Pronouns Observing these basics when studying Scripture will help remove our opinions about the text, so that we can see clearly what the Holy Spirit is trying to reveal to us through Gods Word. ~Jonathon
