Teacher directions
These review sheets provide students with an opportunity to review and reiterate the important Common Core standards associated with informational text. The pack includes a total of 5 informational mini-passages with four standards based skill questions. Each skill is presented in two formats: multiple choice and open-ended. You can have students do one or both of each activity! These short, easy-to-implement quick checks are great for morning bell work or a quick end of the day review. I have also included a single sheet for all 4 multiple choice questions for use as a formative assessment tool, in case this is your preference. To implement, photocopy the pages youd like to use. Have students read the passage, and respond to the question(s), supporting their answer with specific textual evidence. Review in small groups, or as a whole class, to maximize student learning. Standards included: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.2 Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.1 Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.4 Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases in a text relevant to a grade 3 topic or subject area. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.8 Describe the logical connection between particular sentences and paragraphs in a text (e.g., comparison, cause/effect, first/second/third in a sequence). The Third Wheel

Another crucial difference can be seen in their bodies. Insects, like ants, have three body sections, but a spiders body has two sections. Spiders are also unique from insects because they produce silk thread. At first glance, you may be fooled into thinking spiders are insects, but if you look closely you can notice many important differences. 1. Which main idea best fits this paragraph? a) Spiders and insects both share the same habitat. b) There are many differences between spiders and insects. c) Spiders bodies have two parts with eight legs. d) Spiders are arachnids.
