Mechanical Connector Conductor Jointing is easy to achieve with the use of our mechanical type connector. Manufactured from aluminium alloy, the connector has a removable bridge piece to aid in conductor insertion, while final connection is through torque controlled shear bolts. All of our connectors are tested and conform to IEC 61238 and BS4579 Standards showing our dedication to product safety and quality assurance. Connector Housing The MIRP joint features a unique design whereby insulation reinstatement and stress control are provided by a quick fit rubber housing. The incorporation of a semi-conducting layer as part of the dual construction housing effectively and efficiently addresses and removes high concentrations of electrical stress at the connector interface. We guarantee maximum security of our insulating housings by conducting 100% factory pre-testing. No other materials or processes are needed to effect a safe and totally reliable insulated system.
Earth Fault and Screen Protection A punched aluminium earth cage, installed over the jointed cores provides both earth fault continuity and effective earth screening. The completed joint has undergone extensive short circuit testing and readily meets the requirements of CENELEC - HD629.2, UK Electricity Council Recommendation - ERC 90, Kema Specification - 52. Polyurethane Resin Encapsulation This material has many unique design features and as with many other WT Henley products, has been continually updated to meet the needs of todays cable designs and constructions. This product is totally compatible with all current cable types, is thermally stable, resistant to water ingress and possesses high impact strength making available to the world-wide electrical distribution industry, a fast, efficient, cost effective and proven method of joint encapsulation. Joint Shell The vacuum formed styrene joint shell is designed to provide a profiled moulding into which the resin encapsulant is poured. The shell is tailored to provide adequate resin coverage of internal components whilst minimising resin use. Installation This range of joints has been designed with ease of use in mind. Whilst jointing skills are necessary for those preparing and jointing cables, we believe that with this quick and easy to install joint, jointing productivity can be improved. Current End Users Energex, Integral Energy, EnergyAustralia & Aurora Energy.

No Special Jointing Skills Jointing is easy with a comprehensive instruction leaflet provided with each joint. No Heat Joints are filled with a two or three part low temperature polyurethane compound mixed on site in a container supplied. No Further Protection The compound sets solid within a plastic mould box and completely insulates, seals and protects the joints. It will not subsequently soften. Mains Tee Joint No Delay in Back Filling Back filling can proceed at any time after the joint is filled with compound, provided the joint is supported and not disturbed. Type Test To Engineering Recommendation C81/3.
Basic kit comprises a pair of strong plastic mould boxes, sealing foam and clips, jointing instructions and polyurethane resin compound. A cross-reference chart is provided on page 7 for selection of ALSTOM joint kits to suit cables up to 300sqmm 4 core.

Vulcan Cable Cleats It is extremely versatile with its slim light frame, offering easy installation where space is limited. It can accommodate cables in 1, 3 or 4 formation up to 120mm in outside diameter. Similar to the Emperor cleat, it is constructed of Type 316 stainless steel with an inner liner of LSF zero halogen polymeric material. The Vulcan cleat has been tested and certified to withstand Short-Time and Peak Withstand Test Current of up to 43kA RMS (93.6kA peak) at 0.1 second. Vulcan offers the installer a compact cost effective multiple cable cleat manufactured in the highest quality material.
Type 316 stainless steel frame offers ultimate protection against the harshest corrosive conditions The frame base offers a dual fixing option of 2 x10mm or 1 x 12mm fixing Integral liner and base pad in a flame retardant, LSF zero halogen polymeric material which, in the event of fire, emits low smoke and fumes The liner also provides protection for the cable and cushions the cables during short- circuit conditions, helping to avoid cable damage
The Emperor cleats compact design means that the Emperor takes up a minimum amount of space on cable ladder rung or any suitable cable management system. It is quick and easy to install, which can lead to significant savings on installation costs. Testing and Certification: The Emperor cleat is certified to withstand ShortTime and Peak Withstand Test Current of up to 72kA RMS (154kA peak) at 0.3 second, and 81kA RMS (166kA peak) at 0.1 second. Such results make the Emperor one of the strongest cleats on the market.
Emperor cable cleats used for mounting 11kV, 630mm2 single core cables at Wayatinah Power Station, Tasmania
Easy to Install:
Unique patented design Large range taking Fully releasable strap allowing ease of reinstallation Provided with gripper type ribs to prevent cable slip on vertical runs Available in black polypropylene and LSF polymeric material. The latter material is flame retardant to V0 and in the event of a fire, does not give off toxic fumes or dense smoke Cleats manufactured in polypropylene will withstand temperatures between -40C and +85C whilst LSF material will withstand temperatures between -40C and 150C

Mount the cleat using a 6mm fixing screw or bolt and offer up the cable or pipe. Push the strap through the aperture to tighten. Once the cleat is sufficiently tight, lock the strap into position by pressing one side at a time between the sprung latches. To release the cleat, use a screwdriver to disengage the strap from the latches. Press the strap towards the mounting surface and push to release the ratchet. Once the cable is removed the cleat can be unfixed and re-installed.
