Truth in Cosmic Creation: It's Spiritual Source Truth and Spirit from Being The Infinite's first step toward creation was Being/Existence/Sat. It's objective state is Truth. It's subjective state is Spirit. Truth as Pure Existence Truth is an expression of the being, i.e. Pure Existence; the pure existent: Being; Sat. It is the full truth without the shadow of its opposite. What Truth Is Truth is Pure, Objective Existence. As it really is. Truth as First Expression of Spirit Truth is powerful because it is the first expression of Spirit in cosmic creation. Therefore, Truth is a direct door to Spirit. (MSS) Definition of Truth Truth is the objective state of Sat (Existence, Being). Truth and Spirit The power of Truth is the power of the Spirit (MSS, paraphrased) Truth Truth is objective existence. Truth ... Truth is above and beyond all contraries and opposites, beyond divisions in a radiant and total Unity. (The Mother) What Manifests in the Universe is of the Being All that manifests itself in time, is the coming into play, effective disclosure, result, form, power, evolution, movement of some truth of being, a truth of Sat, of the eternal existence of the Supreme and Eternal. (Sri Aurobindo Volume: 23-24 [CWSA] (The Synthesis of Yoga), Page: 907) Spiritual Source of Truth Truth is the Object State of the Being [i.e. Sat of Sat-Chit-Ananda] that exists independent of mind's ability to know it. These objects of truth also lie beyond mind's ability to contain it. Truth is however fully knowable through and contained in Supermind. Truth and Satchitananda Truth is the outer expression of Sachchidanandam, an objective status. (MSS) Source of Truth When the ineffable, immutable Omnipresent Reality extends to begin to become this universe, it arrives at a first stage of Being/Existence - known as Sat in the East. There the objective state of all Reality is established. That is Truth. Truth as First Expression of Spirit Truth is the first expression of the Spirit; others being Peace, Knowledge, Oneness, Love, beauty, delight (Bliss, Timelessness, Infinity, etc. Spirit vs. Truth Spirit is the subjective experience of Sat. The Absolute, the Infinite Consciousness is not just a Being, but it is a Power, containing not only a quiescence and repose, but an action in of itself, a creation in of itself. The Absolute is then capable of an eternal action and creation; of deploying the Infinite Power. Creation would then be an ordered deployment of the infinite possibilities of the Absolute. The Supreme and Eternal Infinite determines itself to our consciousness in the universe through Supermind by real and fundamental truths, as "Real Ideas" which can be seized by us, especially if we rise to a consciousness of spiritual intuition and beyond. On The Real-Idea The Real-Idea is Being [pure spirit] aware of what is in itself and automatically self-creative by the force of that Truth-awareness. (Paraphrase of Sri Aurobindo) Thoughts on Truth -God seeks a higher delight than bliss in creation. Therefore he creates contradictions, splitting one into two opposites. The truth is hidden in the opposites. The conflict of their surfaces generates a struggle of intensity to bring the hidden truth out. Thus the static bliss changes into active delight. -All the things on earth hover around a Truth. It is life, rather existence. We cannot relate to its subjective state; its objective state is Truth. -The experience of Sat is Spirit. It is an experience in Truth. The experience of Self-Consciousness in Ignorance is Ego. Ego is Spirit in Ignorance.

Nature of Truth for the Individual According to Sri Aurobindo, truth for the human being is the objective perception of the human existence. (MSS) Truth The Truth is that which is the objective state of things, circumstances, realities; it is that which is real above and beyond all subjective states or perception. Perceiving the Objective Existence of Truth Truth itself is objective existence; i.e. what actually is. We can perceive it, giving us pure knowledge of reality.

(The Mother) Truth of a Thing When we discover Truth in any thing, we gain the perception of its inherent Oneness and unity beyond contraries, divisions, dualities, and contradictions. Truth is the Whole; not Parts Truth of the Whole that is Seen by the Being -Parts of being see parts of the truth. -The whole Being can see the whole truth. -Truth is not of the parts, internal or external, but of the whole which always involves a relationship between the parts. -Truth of the part may offend the other parts, not truth of the whole. (The Mother) Becoming Truth's Instrument When we watch a play by Shakespeare, we see life presented from many perspectives. We see it through the life experiences of the individual characters, as well as the through their interaction. Through this myriad view, we afforded the opportunity to know the totality, the Whole of what is unfolding at any moment in time. We could say that it is the total or near-total Truth of life presented to us through the poetic genius of Shakespeare. If life is this perpetual unfolding of this totality of truth, the individual experiences nearly its opposite. He perceives through the small perspective of his own consciousness, through the clouded lens of his limited knowledge. We call this the "essential Ignorance of Man," where Man cannot fathom the totality of truth unfolding around him, as Shakespeare is able to express in his plays. In fact, the individual cherishes his part knowledge, relishes it, adores it, as his emotions get wrapped up in the limited truth he perceives. It is falsehood that can even lead to evil. We each live our lives from a very limited perspective of the truth. It almost seems pathetic, as we are limited creatures far removed from the totality of knowledge in the domain we are addressing. It is as if the details of truth were all around us, but we have attached ourselves to one small thread. However, humanity is evolving, and we are capable of becoming more than we are -- including the capacity to know the multiplicity of truth unfolding around us at any moment in time; or knowing all sides of an issue rather than the one we are overly attached to. If we move to a deeper consciousness, our mind expands. When it expands, it becomes hungry to know all sides of an issue or matter. As a result, we then restrain ourselves from defending what we already know, while aspiring to know to know more -- including the details, the totality, and the Essence of any matter. From that deeper poise, we constantly open ourselves to another's point of view, no matter how at odds with our current viewpoint. We hunger to get at the truth of things. We may even aspire spiritually to become an instrument of cosmic-based Truth itself. So when we go about our daily lives, we should stop and think if we are truly aware of all perspectives of a matter, and consider what it will take to garner that wider, detailed perception of the truth. If we do, we will be creating the very solid basis for right decision-making and action, which invariably leads to very successful and happy lives. If we take this approach, then the Truth inherent in creation can become something we constantly aspire for in our lives. Then we will also serve a divine purpose, as Truth's human instrument.

Embracing All Sides Gets to Truth Learn Truth from Any Moment, Any thing If you sincerely want to live according to the Truth, you must know that you can learn from everything and that you have the possibility of making progress at every moment. A great stupidity can often reveal a great light to you, if you know how to see it. (The Mother) A Process that Reveals the Integral Knowledge of the Object of Inquiry "Know the many sides of the possibilities of an object of inquiry. Combine them through logical mind to create further insights. Intuitions of knowledge that follow can bring the full truth into your mind. An inner poise will create such conditions, and understanding of the laws of life will also support the effort. Truth is a Thing and Its Opposite Cosmic wisdom is to know the truth of a thing, but also to know that the opposite of that truth is also true. An Open vs. a Closed Mind -An open mind is one which keeps the mind always free from prejudice, opinion or prejudgement. One can congratulate oneself if he has come across another whose mind is open. -Most men are rational in affairs that do not touch their own personality, which means they have the rational faculty. When it touches their own personal affairs adversely, they act like others, with a closed mind or led by prejudice. -A closed Mind is closed to the Force. The Force easily enters an open Mind. Taking Another's Point of View and Truth Taking the other person's point of view is a spiritual movement of mind that opens us to Truth. Infallible Knowledge A number of years ago after the Gulf War my uncle asked me straight out what was the reason Sadaam ventured into Kuwait. He was asking in order to see if I had the right perspective. I thought about the various facets for a moment, and then remembered something Garry had said. I told my uncle that Sadaam went in because he couldn't pay the debts he owed to Kuwait. (I chose this answer because I had more faith in what Garry said than the various reasons I could propose.) I expected my uncle to pooh pooh the answer, and then proceed to lecture me on the several other reasons. Instead, he was silent for a moment, and then quietly commented something to the effect, "yes, you are absolutely right." I was VERY surprised by his response. Now I wonder how can one express truths that others will always comment "yes, of course." Whenever I mention (in context) something A has said there is invariably agreement amongst the listeners. (Unless I expressed it the wrong way.) In fact, there is often this response of silence followed by agreement. It is as if the knowledge is Self-Existent. How to acquire such knowledge is the question, and the object of my quest. It is knowledge that appears to be a perfection of the truth. It can come through an integral understanding of the sides, though I sense that there is the intuitive quality that has descended into the mind of the individual formulating the knowledge. This quality appears to know no opposition (i.e. it abridges all potential sides); therefore it is Selfexistent. I imagine one day that I could go to Growth Online, read a topic where there are many thoughts, organize them into several essential coherent thoughts, and from there develop several insights, out of which intuitions of knowledge will descend into my mind (or the reader's). At that point perhaps I can have a degree of confidence that the knowledge contained there is infallible. Progressive Perception of Truth in Mind and Spiritual Mind Truth is known progressively as we move upward from sense mind to rational mind to insight to silent mind to intuition and supramental perception. Truth Inside Truth takes you inside. What is not discovered inside is no Truth. (MSS)

Positive Life Response and Truth: -Life R e sponds to Knowing the Truth

Life Responds Positively to One Who Know the Truth Nothing is simpler than knowing the True from the false in a work. If the same truth is there in successive layers of existence with no admixture of falsehood at any level, it is Truth, pure and simple. One easily knows such Truth about property, jobs, rights, etc. Such possessions are unassailable; they need no defence of law, argument, etc. If your work is true, your right is true, and the benefit the property received from your work is true, NO force on earth can take it away from you. The property, the job, the right will take initiative to come to you, to be with you. The truth in them will stir in favour of the truthful man. When an attempt was made to take away the property of a person with unwritten rights to half of it, the whole property came to him. Another who never had any rights or harboured any such claim, but gave the TRUTH of service and support to another property, was offered that property even without claiming it. Truth defends itself; it needs no defence. (MSS) -Life Responds to Embracing the Truth Life Shifts When Shifting from Falsehood to the Truth When falsehood is embraced and then one shifts to the truth of that thing, life responds overwhelmingly in one's favor. Truth and Life Response -Life becomes live when the fact reveals its hidden Truth. -Truth effectuates itself without fail at the level it is perfect. Its perfection is seen by the positive creativity of the atmosphere. -Truth is creative. Truth alone lived effectuates the creative opportunity. -When an unpardonable suspicion is spoken out by the victim, it will disarm the accuser and will become pardonable. When Truth is uttered, it will release a force to overcome its adversaries. - For one who is wedded to Truth, every moment presents the right opportunity. (MSS) -Life Responds to Doing the Right, Truthful Thing Power of Truth in Case of Walter Scott Walter Scott got into financial prospects of utter ruin because he took on himself the miseries of friends by signing security for them. He did so in good faith as a true English gentleman, in the words of Sri Aurobindo, as one who has discovered Brahman in life. He was persuaded to declare bankruptcy paying 5% of the loans due and save his skin. He refused. He gave a promise and stood by that. His promise was given from a greater depth than the life of mortals who are anxious to save their own skins. He pledged his future writings and desired to HONOUR his whole commitment. In times of crash, no one will value future earnings and even those would pay 10% of his loan instead of 5%. The promise of Scott had POWER, the power of Truth, which is the power of Spirit. (MSS) From Falsehood to Truth Truth and Falsehood -As work will not admit a flaw, the success of Truth will not permit the touch of Falsehood in any form. -Each problem that we face brings to us a certain truth hidden by falsehood. We must seek the Truth behind the appearance. That Truth will be found inside us as it is a universal Truth. The problem will not be there once it is seen. -The soldier of Truth is a fish of truth living in an ocean of falsehood. -A small falsehood can destroy a great Truth. It shows the infinitesimal is equal to the infinite. fortifies Truth. -Making one speak the Truth by force, converts Truth into falsehood. -Yoga is to sift the Truth from Falsehood and poise at a point when the falsehood begins to turn into Truth. -As work will not admit a flaw, the success of Truth will not permit the touch of Falsehood in any form. -As the Falsehood inadvertently serves Truth on crucial events, so Truth consciously, though apparently obliviously, serves Falsehood in crisis. -Discovering the Truth in the Falsehood enjoying itself in effective organisation is the Many evolving into One in another. Accepting the Truth of the Limits of Our Being Overcoming our Blind Spots After the independence of India and its partition from Pakistan in 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru led the country through its transition to democracy and a new modernity. He was a man deeply committed to his country, with a strong mind and a driving idealism. There has been no greater leader of that emerging Asian nation since. And yet he was tripped up by one view that he seemed so sure of. He proclaimed that China was the very embodiment of his own high idealism. Unfortunately, he would be disillusioned not long after when in 1962 China invaded and run roughshod over his own beloved country. It was a blind spot of belief for sure. In the 1920s and 30s Western idealists railed at the corruption of capitalism, and signs of emerging nationalism and fascism both in their own countries and aboard. They were highly perceptive in their analysis, sounding warnings that the people of the world would fail to heed. Many of these same writers, thinkers, and advocates saw the Soviet Union under Stalin as a real alternative, a potential Paradise on Earth, in opposition to the corruption and greed of a money-driven West. It took Solzhenitsyns The Gulag Archipelago to fire the first salvos against this view. Since then it has been discovered that Stalin was responsible for the deaths of nearly 30 million people of his fellow citizens. He had that many shot and killed in a reign of terror unknown in the history of the world. In America, it has been faddish amongst the conservative elite to proclaim that unfettered, laissez-faire capitalism was the salve of the masses. That wealth and profits of the rich would trickle down to the masses below. That theory proved to be a disaster, as we saw from the recent financial crisis that threatened to ruin the economies of the world. Like nations, peoples, leaders, philosophies, we too as individuals also have blind spots that we are ignorant of and oblivious to. We dearly hold onto one or more critical opinions or beliefs that are in direct contradiction to the truth -- affecting not only our own selves, but the people around us. Perhaps those closest to us see that blind spot. Or maybe it is someone at a distance who perceives it, yet cannot express it in deference to our feelings. Then who amongst us are willing to confront such certainties, challenging their truth worthiness? I am not sure if there is one in a thousand. If there such a person, then that brave soul is intellectually honest and sincere. For after all, who has the gumption to lay out ones attitudes and values, and deconstruct them to determine their accuracy and truth-value? E.g., who would make the effort to go to that goldmine and fount of information -- the Internet -- and discover the relative or absolute merit of ones most cherished beliefs? Whether we are a scientist, a leader, an advocate, or a parent, we are likely blind to something significant in our lives. And yet we are also capable of determining its veracity by gathering evidence from the world around us. There is another approach to overcoming such ruinous blind spots. We can subscribe to an inner, psychological approach I call taking another mans point of view. I.e. the next time you have a conversation or otherwise communicate with someone, make the effort to embrace the other persons point of view, no matter how farfetched. See a glimmering of truth in it, while releasing your attachment to your own entrenched position. Doing so indicates an open mind that seeks knowledge and truth in life; that is open to a wider domain of possibilities. In that way, it is a spiritual-like approach to ones existence. One interesting result of taking this approach is that it attracts sudden good fortune. For example, lets say we have been invited to a party by a friend or spouse, but are not inclined to go. Though others have recommended it in the past, we feel certain that it will be a waste of time. However, when we shift from our entrenched opinion and embrace their suggestion, then when you arrive at the reception, several startling conditions present themselves. Not only do you find yourself enjoying yourself, but a long lost friend appears on the scene, energizing you to no end. Best of all, you meet someone who offers you a great opportunity in a field closely related to your own. When you embrace anothers point of view, life opens up and you are catapulted forward. There is one other way to ascertain a blind spot. In the course of your day, watch for any significant negative conditions that appears in your life. It is a sure sign of something amiss in your being, for everything that appears on the outside is a reflection of your inner condition. For example, if an important project is suddenly cancelled, find the corresponding negative attitude or belief. It is a blind spot that has been there for a while, affecting present and past conditions. Deconstructing our beliefs, taking the other persons point of view, and relating negative outcomes to inner perceptions, are three powerful methods to reveal and overcome our blind spots, which in turn will help us avoid a lot of pain and suffering in life. Will you then be brave and ask a confident, relative, or friend if there is something key that you are blind to? Or will you try to deconstruct several key beliefs to see their truth-value? Or will you fully embrace another's perspective today? Or will you take the time to consider how negative outcomes are direct reflections of wanting attitudes, opinions, and beliefs? If you make that effort, your entire life will be turned around, for nothing has a greater effect than identifying a blind spot and turning it into the light of truth. Other Thoughts On Truth -Through love or war, in the past or present, under any circumstances fair or foul, TRUTH has prevailed in the end. -There is one thing in the world. Its name is Truth. -Each problem that we face brings to us a certain truth hidden by falsehood. We must seek the Truth behind the appearance. That Truth will be found inside us as it is a universal Truth. The problem will not be there once it is seen. -He whose physical being rises to pure existence is capable of Truth. -In a complicated case of mystery, if there is truth at the bottom, there will be some physical fact or some scope for that Truth to emerge. -Truth is creative. Truth alone lived effectuates the creative opportunity. Truth and Strength TO BE CATEGORIZED

TO BE CATEGORIZED Truth and Evolution of Society Gaining a Fuller Knowledge of the World through Higher Consciousness Q: How can people have a more full knowledge of what is happening in the world? A: It requires humanity to move out of the essential Ignorance and discover the integral Truth of things, which will happen gradually over time through Nature's slow and difficult method. If we take to higher consciousness and deeper human values, including the use of Spirit, Nature's way can be replaced with the way of Soul, enabling more rapid progress, evolution, and transformation without the dark side. The Spiritual Truth is Infinitely Diverse and Variable "Spiritual truth is a truth of the spirit, not a truth of the intellect, not a mathematical theorem or a logical formula. It is a truth of the Infinite, one in an infinite diversity, and it can assume an infinite variety of aspects and formations: in the spiritual evolution it is inevitable that there should be a many-sided passage and reaching to the one Truth, a many-sided seizing of it; this many-sidedness is the sign of the approach of the soul to a living reality." (Sri Aurobindo) Opinions vs. Truth -Opinions are many; Truth is few. -Opinions are partial; Truth is full (i.e. it is integral knowledge of the matter). -It is advisable to hold off from expressing your opinions whenever possible, and instead pursue the integral Truth of the matter, which will provide powerful insight that lead to decisions and actions that lead to extraordinarily successful living. -To get at the many sided truth of anything, it will help to take the other person's point of view, no matter how at odds with our own attitudes and beliefs. Infinite Power Released where Our Consciousness Meets the Truth of the Situation At the point your awareness, consciousness moves to and meet the integral Truth of the situation, life responds Infinite-like. Or to put it another way, where Truth and Spirit come together, the Infinite emerges from the Finite. This mirrors Sat -- the pure Existent, the Being -- which is the first poise from out of the Infinite Divine, where Spirit and Truth are One, on Its way to embodying an infinite-like universe from out of Itself. Understanding at Three Levels: Conception-Perception-Sensation Karmayogi offers an ascending scale by which we understand a matter or subject in life: Conception-PerceptionSensation To conceive is to have a mental understanding of a matter, principle, etc.. To perceive is to experience it. Sensation is to embody it naturally in our being without thought or feeling. (I.e. it is just a natural truth to us.) Here is an example. There is the principle or concept of 'The Marvel,' which is to see how all things good AND bad things in life serve the unfolding and are indispensible for progress. To read the principle and understand with the mind is Conception. Perception is to have the experience (of the Marvel.) For example, I have a bad boss who creates chaos, and yet I realize that without him two of my friends could not have risen in the company, and that through his meanness, I have become a stronger person. Sensation is to see that whenever I come across such "bad" individuals, I accept it as part of the flow of life, and the necessity of progress. I.e. this comes natural to me. It is in essence to realize 'The Marvel.' To understand each of Sri Aurobindo's and Karmayogi's ideas, we can progressively move from conception to perception to sensation (i.e. realization) of it. As we make these discoveries, we will experience ever-increasing Delight in our lives; which they both indicate is the very reason we are here on earth. Spirit and Truth in '12 Angry Men' In the wonderful 1957 film Twelve Angry Men, a dozen jurists locked away in a room have to determine the fate of a defendant on trial for murder. When they enter the room, they first vote 11-1 against the defendant. However, a perceptive and cerebral architect questions their assumptions. The others have come to their conclusions mostly based on sense based evidence and limited logic. The architect does not accept these limited facts. He has a keen mind and wants to penetrate to the truth. One by one, he manages to convince the other jurists to see the wider truth of things. They each have their own resistances, yet they are able to come closer to the truth when they give up their part understanding and embrace all possibilities. In the end, they come out of the jury room with a unanimous not-guilty decision, based on new facts that they are able to glean out of thin air through rational thought, insight, and yes, intuition. One man's fiercely penetrating mind evoked the complete reversal of conditions. His consciousness, i.e. the Spirit spread to others' where it met the true Truth of the situation.

Thus, a catastrophic decision was avoided, even as each man overcome a limitation in his attitudes, which ending up being an even greater Truth; one that on entry to the room they never would have thought would be addressed! The Luminous Truth That Contains All Without Conflict When one reaches the luminous Truth, one sees that It can contain all without conflict, and that everyone is Its child. (Satprem, based on Sri Aurobindo's Teachings) Realizing the Knowledge of the Truth in the Emotions and Body The Knowledge of the Truth becomes Integral not only when one perceives all things and their interrelation from the mental perspective, but where it is realized in the emotions, in the nerves, down into the essence and movements of the physical body. Then it is truly Integral Knowledge realized, enabling what we are calling "Development," which is not just more of the same, but something of a higher order; whether in consciousness or outer success. Moreover, life responds from the springboard of such integrated Knowledge; especially if we add the Divine to the equation. Truth The Secret of Truth The secret of Truth is it includes the truth of every point of view. (MSS) Truth or the Abyss "Men, countries, continents! The choice is imperative: Truth or the abyss ..." (The Mother) Progress of Man through Human Values that are Aspects of Truth Values are aspects of Truth expressed in life in different forms. The indwelling Divine Consciousness, in the process of Evolution, by using these values aspects of Truth enabled the phenomenal growth of humanity. (MSS) Truth that is Integral Knowledge Across the Arc of Time Truth is not only all sides of an object and their integral relation, but also occurs across all frames of time; past, present, and future, gathered into the Timeless eternal. Through consecration, we connect with that Eternal Now at the plane of the Psychic Being, which gives us Integral Truth Knowledge of a matter that crosses the arc of Time.
