Zaya introduces Nurai

Ulta-luxury development showcases design villas

arlier this year Zaya, developer of Nurai released the first of its show villas at the exclusive project just off the coast of Abu Dhabis Saadiyat Island. Created by Paris-based Aw2, Zayas unique interiors conceptualisation process for Nurai Island was the result of targeted market research with highnet-worth individuals to gather intelligence about their behavioural trends and aspirations resulting in a unique development that responds entirely to their needs and wants. This process produced a number of concepts which fed directly into the general design brief provided. For example the research showed a strong desire for privacy and seclusion which translates into an architectural green carpet concept with homes tucked under. Respondents expressed a preference for an indooroutdoor lifestyle which has been achieved by bringing outdoor elements into the homes with open living spaces, large windows and transparent walls. A company spokesman said: Nurai delivers a unique architectural concept that responds to clients desire to live on a seemingly virgin island - giving them a heightened sense of privacy and seclusion. A carpet of greenery unfolds across the island, with

sweeping structures underneath to envelop residents in their own world of private luxury. The design and finish of the properties is of the highest quality offering a premium living experience where every attention to detail has been considered by working in partnership with the worlds most renowned architects, designers, consultants and brands. Each residence includes luxurious amenities such as a private beach and garden, an infinity swimming pool, concealed service quarters and outdoor showers. All elements of Nurai, be it building materials or architectural elements, are designed to work in harmony with each other and with Nurais environment. The project incorporates superior attention to detail, exceptional quality in finishes and furnishing and natural materials have been used wherever possible. And since Nurai is intended to be unique, the developer is not specifying brands for all elements of the interiors, but focussing on bespoke and unique designs custom made in most instances. With a high appreciation of natural materials, N

such as quartz slabs and hardwoods, every item is chosen in its best natural form and quality. The carefully selected finishes and materials enhance a sense of individualism. The finest natural products are uniquely treated by specialists, which creates a sense of contemporary chic, individualistic and ultra stylish design. All joinery will be custom made and unique to Nurai, with superior ironmongery and all doors in high gloss dark stain timber. The cabinetry will be made to order, consisting of highest quality hardwoods mixed with highly lacquered timber to provide a seamless design throughout the villas. Corian and/or coloured glass counter tops will be used for the kitchens where highly lacquered cabinets and brushed stainless steel appliances will bring together both elegance and cutting-edge design. The uniquely designed spacious bathrooms are equipped with polished and hammered crystal white

marble, glass panels and white bathroom ware. Walls will be plastered and fabric and timber clad and paints are chosen from sustainable and ecofriendly brands. Floating ceilings will also feature a plaster finish with recess and groove details to integrate lighting. The unique lighting will be provided by market leading manufacturers. To complete the Nurai lifestyle, premium furniture has been custom made, comprising exclusive pieces with interior decor available upon request. The exceptional quality of the interior finishes will extend out onto the terraces with quartz slab floors and swimming pools with infinity edges dressed in mosaics. The ultimate haven, Nurai is surrounded by crystal clear waters and ringed with pristinely beautiful sandy beaches. Water is Nurais motif and wherever you are you feel its pull. Colour schemes for the furniture, fittings and soft furnishings play on the elements of earth and water throughout the villa and were selected to maximise light and airiness across the living spaces. The monochromatic interior creates an atmosphere of timelessness with the continuity of simplistic serenity. There is interplay of soft warm shades of earthy colours and various textures which compliment the natural elements of Nurai Island. The spokesman added: Our aim for Nurai was not to overwork the design or idea. Even though we kept the design simple, pure, strong and honest, it still oozes a sense of luxury. The interior may be monochromatic and essentially understated and simple but it is as generous as it is sumptuous.
