SBLE2103 PROCESS WRITING WRITING PORTFOLIO (20%) Students will develop and maintain a writing portfolio consisting of FIVE (5) entries that reflects their analytical skills in relation to developing five-paragraph essay, APA referencing skills and expository writing. For Entry 1-4, students will collect and analyse different types of paragraphs in terms of topic sentences, strategies of introduction, use of cohesive devices, and types of conclusions; as well as acknowledge the sources of their entry using the APA format. For Entry 5, students will need to do a thorough analysis of an expository essay of the exemplification OR comparison and contrast patterns of organization of their choice. Portfolio Entry 1 Collect, highlight, and annotate 2 paragraphs with topic sentences in 2 different locations. Portfolio Entry 2 Collect, highlight, and annotate 2 paragraphs that have different strategies of introduction. Portfolio Entry 3 Collect, highlight, and annotate: i) One (1) paragraph with a number of cohesive devices ii) Two (2) paragraphs with different strategies of conclusion. Portfolio Entry 4 Acknowledge the sources of your portfolio entry 1-3 (altogether 7 paragraphs) using the APA format.

Portfolio Entry 5 Find an expository of the EXEMPLIFICATION or COMPARISON & CONTRAST patterns of organization essay (5 paragraph), and analyse and identify the six (6) following aspects: i) Introduction strategy ii) Thesis statement iii) Topic sentences iv) Type of supporting detail v) Cohesive devices vi) Concluding strategy

Notes: Texts and answers must be typed and printed on white A4 paper, using Times New Roman, 12pt. size or Arial, 11pt. size. Students are required to present their analyses in the form of annotations on the right and left margins of the essays. (Refer to the sample provided on Facebook group).
