Methodology Research Design and Method This study shall utilize a quantitative-qualitative research design wherein a survey shall be conducted on several members of MLM companies (Avon, UNO, Mary Kay and Fern-C) regarding the communication tools they utilize in their businesses. Also, some MLM experts shall be interviewed regarding communication and recruitment. Concepts and Indicators/ Variables and Measures The study shall focus on the communication tools used in recruiting MLM members and in determining the role of communication in recruitment, as well as finding the relationship of longevity and effectiveness in using communication strategies when recruiting. Sampling and Units of Analysis The units of analysis for this study shall be members and executives of MLM companies. Respondents shall be randomly selected from different MLM companies. ___ respondents from Avon, ___ from UNO, ___ from Mary Kay and ___ from Fern-C shall be selected. Research Instrument

One of the two instruments of the study shall be a survey questionnaire with eleven (11) questions. The survey questionnaire shall be composed of questions regarding communication tools, recruitment and training. Also, there shall be approximately five (5) interviews for the executives of MLM companies. Eight (8) questions shall be prepared regarding the communication tools they utilize, the role of communication in recruiting members and the approaches they use in training their members. Data Gathering The researchers shall administer the survey and interviews at certain branches of the said MLM companies. They shall give the questionnaires personally and get them right after the respondents have answered them. They shall also use a recording device to document the answers of the interviewees, then later on transcribe the recordings. Data Analysis The researchers shall list down the communication tools mentioned by the members and executives, then determine what is the most effective in recruitment. They shall find similar responses regarding the role of communication in the MLM industry. They shall also consider the length of stay of the respondents and the number of recruited members in order to answer the 3rd objective of the study. The Researchers The researchers are 2nd year BA Communication Research students, taking up Communication Research 101 under Prof. Florinda Mateo, A.Y. 2012-2013.
