SECOND SEMESTER (2011-12) TEST - 2
Analog Electronics (EEE C364/INSTR C364)
Date : 02-04-2012 Time : 60 min Maximum Marks: 40 Closed Book
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions: (i) Answer All questions.
(ii) Supply voltages for the op-amp is 15V and V
sat
= 13V.
(ii) For IC 555 the output voltage is 3.6 V with supply voltage of +5V.
(iii) V
D(ON)
= 0.7 V.
(iv) Any required data not explicitly given, may be suitably assumed.

Q1.(a) For the circuit given in Fig. 1, get the transfer function and identify the
function of the filter, order, value of Q and cutoff frequency (ec).
(b) Design and draw the circuit of an active equal component KRC filter
which gives the same response as the circuit of Fig 1. [5 + 7]

Q2. Design and draw the circuit of All-pass filter for the phase angle of +80
when the input frequency of Vin is 10 kHz. Assume the value of resistors
available is 10 kO. [ 6 ]

Q3.Design a circuit that drives two light emitting diodes (RED and GREEN)
with the following conditions:
(i) It should work with + 5 V dc supply.
(ii) It should make the RED LED to glow for 1 second, during which
GREEN LED should be off.
(iii)Immediately after that the GREEN LED should glow for 3 seconds,
during which RED LED should be off. The cycle should repeat itself.
(iv)RED LED needs a voltage drop of 1.8 V and current of 10 mA to give
required luminance.
(v) GREEN LED needs a voltage drop of 2V and current of 15 mA to give
the required luminance.
(vi)Use the timing capacitor of value 10F. [10]

Q4. Derive an expression for the frequency of the output waveform in the
circuit shown in Fig. 2. Draw the voltage waveforms at V1, V2, and V0. Mark
the amplitude and time. Also find the frequency of the three waveforms.
Given D1 and D2 are the zener diodes with breakdown voltage of 6.2 V.
