Teaching Experience
Undergraduate English 106: Introductory Composition (Writing About Writing) Purdue University: Fall 2012, Spring 2013 This course encourages students to draw on interview data, ethnographic research, and prior knowledge in order to contribute to ongoing discussions about writing and literacy. Throughout the class, students are asked to expand their notions of literacy to their personal lives and professional trajectories. Multimodal projects and presentations, such as video documentaries, require students to combine their knowledge of rhetorical concepts with professional design principles in order to tailor their message to a variety of audiences. English 103: Accelerated Composition (Sports, Media, and Gaming) Clemson University: Fall 2011, Spring 2012 During these courses, students learned how to compose and analyze a range of texts through the lens of rhetorical concepts. Through critical engagement with themes of literacy, identity, and representation, students developed skills in argumentation, information design, research, and collaboration. In addition to a focus on rhetorical analysis, this class included a multimodal component focused on the fundamentals of video production.
