SUBJECT : PARAMEDIC SCHEDULE CHANGES

Effective Monday, April 20, 2009 all Paramedics up to and including the rank of Captain, with the
exception of staff personnel (individuals that work Monday – Friday, 0830 – 1700 hours), will be subject
to the following schedule changes.

Paramedics will work on one of four platoons. The platoons will be the “E”, “F”, “G” and “H” platoons
(see attached schedule). The schedule that will be implemented is a 12-hour schedule with steady shifts
of 0800 to 2000 hours and 2000 to 0800 hours. Of the four (4) platoons, two (2) platoons will be assigned
to day work and two (2) platoons to night work. The work week begins at 1400 hours on Saturday for day
work platoons and 0200 hours on Sunday for night work platoons. This results in a work week of 42
scheduled hours, which will be administered under the existing pay structure. Fire Service Paramedics
will continue to receive premium pay in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement, and
the Fire Department will continue to take a credit for that against any overtime liability incurred under the
new schedule.

Members currently assigned to the “E” or “F” platoons will remain assigned to the “E” and “F” platoons
respectively. Members currently assigned to the “E” and “F” platoon will work according to the new “E”
and “F” platoon schedule. Members on the “A”, “B”, “C” or “D” platoons will be re-assigned to either
the “E”, “F”, “G” or “H” platoons. The “E” and “F” platoons which currently work from 0800 – 2000
hours will remain straight day work. The newly established night shift platoons will be the “G” and “H”
platoons which will work from 2000 – 0800 hours.

Members that currently work in one of the twenty-four Medic Units that are staffed 24 hours-a-day/7
days-a-week will be re-assigned as follows:

Paramedics currently assigned to the “A” and “B” platoons of the below listed Medic Units are being
transferred to the “E” platoon.

All members are advised that prior to the implementation date of this schedule change, members will be
permitted to mutually swap assignments. To minimize paperwork, one memo listing both members’

name, company and platoon along with their signatures will be forwarded through channels to the
Operations Office by Wednesday, April 8, 2009. All members are advised that their current vacation
selections for 2009 will still be honored.

In order to provide equitable distribution of work shifts, members wishing to change their schedule will
be permitted to request to do so every third year. The first rotation will be held in 2011 near the end of
the year with notification being sent out to the field via a memorandum from Car 2’s office.
