Dear Ms. Asiamah: I write as counsel for Mark Ahlquist, as next friend, parent, and guardian of J-A--, a minor, plaintiff below and designated by the Court as plaintiff-appellee here. Mr. Ahlquist hereby states that he will not file a brief and does not plan to participate in the above-referenced appeal. Mr. Ahlquist means no disrespect to the Court. However, the issues between Mr. Ahlquist as plaintiff and the City of Cranston and others as defendants were fully resolved with the permanent removal of the Prayer Mural prior to March 5, 2012 (that is, before appellants filed their motion to intervene on March 7, 2012), and with the agreement upon and payment of compensatory damages and attorneys fees reflected in a form of judgment submitted March 7, 2012 and entered on March 8, 2012. All parties waived their rights of appeal, and no appeal was taken by any party. At the request of the District Court, Mr. Ahlquist as plaintiff did file a formal objection to the motion to intervene. Mr. Ahlquist will prepare and file a brief in response to the brief of appellants if requested by the Court. I certify that, before submitting the within letter, I have conferred with and obtained the concurrence of Mr. Ahlquist. A copy of this letter is being sent to him by mail and e-mail.
