Mobile phones and other hand help devices are certainly not just a system of making and receiving calls; it is just like having a computer in your pocket.

Since the launch of its first powered phone Android had taken the world by storm; by the end of 2010, it became the worlds leading mobile phone platform taking the first place from Symbian. great mobile platform, maybe due to Android has proven to be a its openness of use and

development not only for mobile phone devices but also for televisions, cameras and netbooks, it the third quarter of 2012, it accounted for the 75 percent of the 181.1 million of the mobiles sold. It was said by Kevin Restivo that Android, having topped the 100 million unit mark last quarter, reached a new record level in a single quarter. By comparison, Android's total volumes for the quarter were greater than the total number of smartphones shipped in 2007, the year that Android was officially announced. Samsung once again led all vendors in this space (Restivo, 2012)

Apple iOS
For many years now, Apple iOS has been the main dominator in the mobile market, and this is for both profit and shares; a soughed after

position to be in within the industry. The industry being at a mature stage now with so many new entrants and new innovations, Apple has been vulnerable to the low-cost Android mobile platform. Though it is difficult times for many industries, Apple has dropped prices on its older products to fend off threats. Has all it worked? Well, earlier in the year Apple dominated a large share of 77 percent the profits in the mobile industry, but now controls 59 percent. Kevin Restivo also state in his research that iOS was a distant second place to Android, but was the only other mobile operating system to amass double-digit market share for the quarter. (Restivo, 2012)

The role of Application Developer

Application Developers administer all features of the application development process they are to develop applications with the mind of making things more simple to do, to give the user ultimate control. They are to ensure that the applications designed are user friendly and meet the purpose to which it was developed for. Both OS application developer have a set objectives and policy to work with as guidelines from the companies.

Conclusion
From the findings of this report it is clear that Android in its progressive stage has managed to attract a great portion of users and it is still developing whilst Apple iOS is still keeping part of the market based on its brand and new enhancements to if previous OS. Many may say that Androids advantage is the fact that it has an open source to which many developers can build their own apps and share with the world and also the fact that many mobile phone companies are licensed to the OS; but, Apple will continue to keep its status with many users that are familiar to the OS and many still remain loyal to the brand. Whilst both OS are created with high specifications, it is clear that there are some disadvantages to the OS which the developers are working to resolve for the best user friendly interface for the users.
