ENTREPRENEURE Entrepreneur is derived from French word Entreprendre which mean to undertake.

Therefore entrepreneur is the an individual who undertake an enterprise specially as a contractor , who acts as a intermediary between the capital and labour. Thus in this way entrepreneur is one who undertake it, i.e. the one who coordinates, organizes and manage capital and labour for the purpose of production is an entrepreneur and this class of entrepreneur is termed as entrepreneurial class. According to Adam Smith Entrepreneur is an individual who undertakes the formation of an organization for commercial purpose by recognizing the political demand for goods and services and thereby acts as an economic agent and transforms demand into supply. According to Peter Drucker An entrepreneur is one who is involved in gathering and using resources to make use of opportunities to produce results. The above definition of entrepreneur are associated with following activities or functions : Perceiving opportunities. Initiative in establishing a business. Risk bearing Introduction of innovations (doing new things). Production of capital. Coordination of different factors of production.

EDP(Entrepreneurship Development Program) Meaning : EDP is a program designed to help young entrepreneurs in strengthening their entrepreneurial motive and in acquiring skills and capabilities necessary for playing their entrepreneurial role effectively. EDP means inculcating entrepreneurial traits into a person imparting the required knowledge, developing the technical, financial, marketing and managerial skills and building the entrepreneurial attitudes. Based on belief that entrepreneurs are made and not born , in other words a person is not born entrepreneur , he/she can acquire entrepreneurial skills and set up a business unit. EDP is an act of H.R. which requires an environment in which an entrepreneur can learn and discharge his functions. It covers mainly three variables: Location Target group Entreprise
