B.O.B. Protection
5 man protection for empty sets B.O.B.= Big-on-big man protection scheme OL is responsible for down linemen first, and then LBs Covered OL= Man on Uncovered OL= Post step inside, dual-read inside LB to OLB, then find work QB is responsible for 6th rusher
B.O.B. Protection
We work to the half-man advantage. Covered linemen work to the inside half of the DL over them. Our uncovered linemen will be our double read player (check ILB to OLB). We want to protect against the most immediate threat first. Our offensive line must communicate.

50/150 Protection
50/150 Protection
Our 50 protection is identical to our 90 protection in terms of scheme and assignments. However, our 50 game is designed to attack further down the field and our receivers routes take more time to develop. This means our QB will have to hold on to the ball longer than he does in our 90 game. It also means that our OL must hold their blocks longer than is required for our 90 routes. Therefore, rather than the aggressive nature of 90 protection-where we attack the DL in order to keep them on the line of scrimmage-the deeper drop of the QB in our 50 game allows the OL to adjust their techniques accordingly. Our interior linemen (center and guards) may give a little ground-but stay firm in the middle, while our tackles should take a deeper vertical set to prevent DL from simply running around the end of our line. Our goal is to form a pocket from which our QB can operate.

50 Switch Warrior
The Switch
While the Run-n-shoot is over twenty-years old, the recent R&S success story has been the Hawaii Warriors under June Jones. With QB Colt Brennan they have lit up opposing teams and broken a few scoreboards along the way. It's a great offense. The Switch is one of the mainstays of the Run-n-shoot. It is a two man concept. Two receivers release and "switch": The outside guy angles inside for 5 yards before pushing vertical, while the inside guy runs a "wheel route" behind the outside guy and then turns up the sideline. Inside Receiver: The inside receiver will come behind the outside guy on his route, and wheel up the sideline. Is someone deeper than him in the deep one-third of the field? Or, is the guy on him playing him man-to-man? "If he's even, I'm leaving! If hes going, I'm staying." It's as simple as deciding whether you could get open deep or not. If the defender stays deep, the receiver will settle at 10 yards and curl back to the Quarterback. Outside Receiver: The outside guy will angle inside and then push up the seam. - MOFC (There is a single deep safety in the middle of the field, like Cover 3) - Run a Seam. - MOFO (There are two deep safeties with no one in the middle) - Run a Dig at 12 yards. QB The QB's read is a pure progression read. He will identify 1-high or 2-high safeties. Against 1-high he will look at the F/S (deep middle safety's) movement. He will peek for the backside seam but read (1) inside switcher, (2) outside switcher, and (3) outlet to running back.

57 Smash Seattle
SMASH
The Smash route is a very versatile route that puts pressure on the Cornerback by placing a receiver in front of him at 6 yards (the Stop by the Outside Receiver) and a man breaking behind him to the Corner. It also allows us to control rotating or hash safeties through the use of a Seam Read by an Inside Receiver! This is a great package against any Cover 2/Cover 4 shell, as well as having excellent possibilities against various forms of man coverage because of the mismatches we can create on the inside! Smash is a solid answer for a number of situations, including 3rd and medium, 2 minute, and Red Zone!
KEYS to a successful play: Good release, eye contact, and snap from Corner route! QB must be persistent about throwing the Stop on time! Dont force the Corner route! Stop route uses smart splits and makes big plays after the catch through a sudden spin & attacking movement up field!
2 Instructi onal
57 SMASH
At 10 yards Nod & Break!
S
Throw the Stop unless the CB
jumps it.
Break THIN across safetys face if he crosses yours
C
6x3
If C sits on the Stop, Eye him down, and throw the corner.
Seam Read should be available if Safety overrotates to the Corner. See in FRONT of it before you throw!
1
I3
#1: STOP. Wide release , sell the fade. Plant outside foot & snap inside. R.A.C. tight turn to the sideline. #2: CORNER. Outside release, straighten, push to 10, nod and break to corner: #3 : SEAM READ. Best release & restack; get vertical!. Stay on Seam to hold the safety as long as hes over top of or inside you. If he opens and crosses your face, break to Thin Post inside him.
