For example: starch is what kind of macromolecule? - Know which macromolecule the Benedicts test is used to identify. - Know which macromolecule the Biurets test is used to identify. - Know which macromolecule the Sudan test is used to identify. - Know which macromolecule the Lugols test is used to identify. - Know the different monomers for each of the macromolecules. - Know the parts of the microscope. - Know how to determine the total magnification if you are using a 4x, 10x, or a 40x objective lens. - Know the steps in focusing a microscope and how to prepare a wet mount. - Know the different organelles in a cell. - Know what osmosis is and how water moves down its concentration gradient. - Understand what happens to a cell under different tonicity conditions (hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic). - Know the difference between a solute and solvent in a solution. - What is the difference between a cell that is crenate and a plant cell that is plasmolyzed? - Know which products are reduced and oxidized in the photosynthesis and respiration equations. - Know the structure of the chloroplast and where the light and dark reactions occur. - Know the structure of the mitochondrion and where glycolysis, the citric acid cycle and where the electron transport chain occur. - Be able to name the factors that affect enzyme function. - Be able to identify the structures of the chloroplast and mitochondrion. - Know how fermentation (anaerobic respiration) is different than aerobic cellular respiration.
