Creamy Italian White Sauce

By Jenny Park

Magic Mix: 2 1/3 cup powdered milk 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup 2 sticks butter, room temp. (or use equivalent in powdered butter & when you make sauce from Magic Mix add more liquid water/milk/broth) Mix the flour & powdered milk together. Add butter, mix until it resembles cornmeal. If you are using a mixer start on low setting or add the lid to your mixer and then go to a higher setting so you dont dust your kitchen. *I used freshly ground white wheat flour instead of all-purpose and the only difference I noticed was that it took a medium-high temperature and a couple minutes longer to get it to simmer and thicken a bit.but it tasted great! Creamy Italian White Sauce: 1 cup magic mix 2 cups milk (I used 1%, or use water to make it less rich) Salt & pepper 4 pieces of cooked & drained bacon, chopped into bite size pieces Add 1 cup magic mix & 2 cups milk (or water), & cook over medium heat (medium-high if using magic mix from wheat flour). When the liquid & Magic Mix are mixed together smoothly, add the cooked chopped bacon in. Cook, stir constantly until it begins to simmer/thicken. Turn off heat, serve over pasta. Salt & pepper to taste and add your own seasonings in. *Notes: To make it thinner use less Magic Mix & more milk/water, add pesto, add marinara sauce. Add Italian seasonings, chopped minced garlic, garlic powder, parsley, anything you like to spice it up or add more flavor.

The stake is making water carriers for the youth for Trek. Anyone that has canvas to donate it would be appreciated. Please get it to the Relief

Faithfulness in Times of Trial: From the Shadows into the Glorious Sunshine
From the time of our receiving the Gospel to the present, the Lord has from time to time given us trials and afflictions, if we may so call them; and sometimes these trials have been of that nature that we have found it very difficult to receive them without murmur and complaint. Yet at such times the Lord blessed us and gave us sufficient of His Spirit to enable us to overcome the temptations and endure the trials. Every man and woman who serves the Lord, no matter how faithful they may be, have their dark hours; but if they have lived faithfully, light will burst upon them and relief will be furnished All that is required of us to make us perfectly safe under all circumstances of trouble or persecution, is to do the will of God, to be honest, faithful and to keep ourselves devoted to the principles that we have received; do right one by another; trespass upon no mans rights; live by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God and his Holy Spirit will aid and assist us under all circumstances, and we will come out of the midst of it all abundantly blessed in our houses, in our families, in our flocks, in our fieldsand in every way God will bless us. He will give us knowledge upon knowledge, intelligence upon intelligence, wisdom upon wisdom.

A big THANK YOU to Sister Jenny Park for teaching us about homemade pasta and sharing some of her cooking tricks. Check out her blog @ littlebeebakery.blogspot.com Homemade P ast a Noodles by Jenny Park
1 egg (2 T. egg powder + 2 T. water) 2 T. milk (1/2 tsp. dry milk powder + 2 T. water) cup white wheat flour cup all-purpose flour (or semolina flour)
Stir ingredients together in bowl with a spoon. Using hands, knead dough until a hard ball of dough forms (if dry, slowly add water a couple drops at a time). Allow dough to rest, cover with damp paper towel, 10 minutes. Clamp pasta maker to your table/counter, insert handle. Run a bit of all-purpose flour thru it while rolling handle to flour it so dough can go thru smoothly. Set a pot of salted water to boil on your stove before you start to make your pasta. I divided dough in half, then pressed first part a little flatter & put it thru pasta maker at widest setting. Then fold it in half & put it thru 3 more times (each time folding it in half). This solves tears/holes & starts to stretch out a bit. Then I put it on next smaller setting & put it thru once without folding it, then I repeated with next three smallest settings always going thru once & never folding. Then attach noodle attachment that just slides onto front of machine. Attach handle into slot for style of noodles you want. Before you run pasta thru & shape noodles you need to dust your piece of dough with all-purpose flour (just put a bit on a clean table/counter & gently rub both sides of pasta stripe into flour lightly to flour it) or noodles will crinkle. Then put dough strip thru noodle shape you want. When noodles are pressed out, put in a pot of salted boiling water; cook 5-6 minutes, longer for softer.
