Purpose
Vision
To help promote local halal products and services innovatively and effectively within the global marketplace with a focus to strengthen and improve the brand awareness and profitability of small & medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and propel growth and development for the local and global halal ecosystem. To become a comprehensive resource centre for promotion of halal-certified products and services from all over the world. To be an exhaustive reference point for SMEs for valuable data, statistics and information on global halal market, its main sub sectors and market demographics. To act as a tool for policy-makers to achieve an export-led economy by capitalising on the worlds largest market force (halal) using 95% of the nations economic backbone (SMEs).

To act as a global gateway that opens up vast opportunities for SMEs halal market expansion and product development and know-how. To project a positive image for local players in the eyes of the global halal fraternity by highlighting the finest halal products and services and the robust halal ecosystem it is currently operating in.

Components
The International Halal SME Report Directory Vol. II will consist of three main components:
1. Print Publication
5,000 copies will be published bi-annually containing cogent analysis of the local and international halal industry and its sub sectors, plus professional profiles of halal industry players, both companies and individuals. The book will be distributed to select target audience worldwide via halal certification bodies in at least 15 countries, as well as through government agencies, foreign embassies and trade offices. It will also be distributed to exhibitors and delegates at major halal and Islamic trade exhibitions, expos, summits, forums and seminars.

2. CD-ROM
50,000 copies of the CD-ROM will be produced, containing a list of over 2,000 producers of halal products and services, both local and international. Similar to the printed version, the CD-ROM will be distributed worldwide for free via halal certification bodies and government offices worldwide but at a larger quantity. It will also be given out free to the visitors of halal/ Islamic trade exhibitions, seminars and forums all year round.

3. Web Portal
An interactive web portal has been established at www.halalsme.com to support the immediate dissemination of info and updates. The portal will feature comprehensive and updated information on each company listed as well as other latest developments within the local and global halal industry. It will also be developed into a platform for business matching services between Muslim-owned companies from over the world.

Apart from the resultant halal consumers, IHSMERD is actually being published primarily with the producers and service providers in mind, who operate within a myriad of sub sectors sharing similar values to halal. They include:

FEATURED MUSLIM ENTREPRENEURS Profile of 5 top Muslim entrepreneurs from Malaysia and abroad, each from a different sub sectors of halal who leads the industry and eventually dictates its overall direction. 7. FEATURED HALAL INDUSTRY EXPERTS Profile and biography and interviews of key industry movers, speakers, scholars and researchers who would be in a position to comment on the trends and direction of the halal industry. 8. HALAL BUSINESS LISTING (HALAL DIRECTORY) Listing of halal certified manufacturers and producers segregated based on the 5 + 2 main clusters of halal (Ingredients, Livestock, Cosmetics & Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, Specialized Processed Food, Islamic Finance & Tourism), and further segregated based on type (Company, Product, Premise & Abattoir), as supplied by partner halal certification agencies worldwide.

To date, there is no other publication that compiles a list of halal certified producers and service providers from all over the world. This is where IHSMERD commands a leading position and is a hard act to follow.

There are two ways an organisation can participate within IHSMERDs Directory section - COMPANY SHOWCASE and HALAL LISTING
A. HALAL COMPANY SHOWCASE
BRIEFLY This is similar to an Advertorial where a company with halal certified products or services can promote their brands and values to the industry. 4 PAGE OPTIONS i. Half page ii. Single page or iii. Two pages. 4 THREE COMPONENTS i. The Basics (info details depending on the page size) ii. The Article (max 300, 500 or 650 words) and iii. Pictures + Logo + QR code that links to the companys website.

B. HALAL LISTING
BRIEFLY Companies with lesser budget can also promote its halal products/services within a smaller area similar to the Yellow Pages, but with more info. 4 2 TYPES 1. COMPANY LISTING PROFILE An 18cm x 5cm column which consists of pertinent info about the company. Profilers can also enhance their listing with either a Full Color Company Name or Full Company Logo enhancements package. 2. BASIC LISTING FREE Only Name of Company, Address and Telephone number will be provided, and is listed within the main product/ service group it belongs to.
