UNICEF UNICEF, one of Key Clubs three preferred charities, was created in December of 1946.

UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. It believes that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a childs path. UNICEF believes that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity. It advocates for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a persons future. Girls education is promoted by UNICEF ensuring that they complete primary education as a minimum because it benefits all children, both girls and boys. Girls who are educated grow up to become better thinkers, better citizens, and better parents to their own children. UNICEF also acts so that all children are immunized against common childhood diseases, and are well nourished, because it is wrong for a child to suffer or die from a preventable illness. The organization works to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people because it is right to keep them from harm and enable them to protect others. UNICEF helps children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity. UNICEF allows the involvement of everyone in creating protective environments for children. They are present to relieve suffering during emergencies, and wherever children are threatened, because no child should be exposed to violence, abuse or exploitation. UNICEF is active in more than 190 countries and territories through country programs and National Committees. This is UNICEF, the United Nations Childrens Fund. UNICEF and Key Club share the global Kiwanis commitment to children and both organizations have provided their extensive resources and leadership to assist in the Worldwide Service Project to virtually eliminate Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) from the globe. Currently, UNICEF has recently partnered with both Key Club and the Eliminate Project during the annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign. The illnesses, maternal and neonatal tetanus, are going to be placed through elimination through the Eliminate Project, which Key Club and UNICEF support. Support for the Eliminate Project is so immense that the organizations hold the goal of raising funds up to $110 million by the year 2015. 1. What does UNICEF stand for? 2.
