VADER HOUSE
Mixing Unconventional Design With A Splash Of Bold Shades

Architect :Andrew Maynard

robably one of the best examples of a home that seems unassuming and traditional in its presence, the VADER HOUSE

opens into a refreshing, modern home that uses the available resources to the hilt. And the most striking feature is the bold red staircase that seems to be part of an ongoing pattern all around the Vader home to bring in a playful look. The hanging beams, integration of spaces with seamless ease and the way there seems to be no dened borders, allows for greater and multiple use of available space making this beautiful structure all the more alluring ...... Simple and subtle!

LEURA HOUSE BEAUTIFUL AND ENERGY EFFICIENT

By James Stockwell Architect
Nesting in a mountain valley, Leura House by James Stockwell Architect is an architectural masterpiece located in Leura, New South Wales - Australia. It was made for Former Federal Court Judge Murray Wilcox and his wife Christine Wilcox with the idea to accommodate their big family children, grandchildren and friends.

BEAUTIFUL AND ENERGY EFFICIENT

LEURA HOUSE T
ogether with its aesthetic merits (it is build in the discontinuous unity method), the house should get a lot of credit for the smart technical solutions and sustainable energy systems. They include: The rammed sandstone walls (mixture of crushed sandstone, 10% cement, chips of iron, stone and quartz),passive solar performance system consisting 20 PV panels producing 5kwh/day, a 100,000lt tank under the bedroom wing, to name just a few. Surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Mountains, Leura house is nevertheless beautiful and stunning, as you will see.

BERKEL

VILLA

Architect: Paul de Ruiter Location: Veenendaal, Netherlands Project Architect: Paul de Ruiter Project Team: Sander van Veen, Helga Traksel Advisor Construction: Van Kessel & Janssen bv Contractor: Bouwbedrijf Valleibouw Site Area: 1,232 sqm Constructed Area: 277 sqm Project Year: 2003-2004 Construction year: 2004-2005

Paul de Ruiter

Villa Berkel in

Veenendaal (Netherlands) is built on a site formerly

occupied by a bungalow dating from the nineteen seventies. The owners wanted to remodel the bungalow, but decided on the advice of Paul de Ruiter to demolish the bungalow and make room for a completely new design.

BUILDING PLOT

his layout of the site means that those parts of the house that the residents prefer to keep private are out of sight.

VILLA

BERKEL

Wednesday, 9June, 2010

he woods around the villa are dark, which means it is important to ensure that

as much light can enter the house as possible. However, the more glass is used in a building, the more difcult it is to maintain the dividing line between inside and outside, private and public. Therefore the building plot is divided into three long strips at right angles to the road. The bottom and southernmost strip is reserved for the garden, the middle strip contains the villa itself and the most northern strip offers access to the house: this is where the drive, parking space and the entrance are located. This layout of the site means that those parts of the house that the residents prefer to keep private are out of sight.

LIVING ZONES T

he layout of the site is repeated in the oor plan of the house. This is also divided into three strips over the 30-metre length of

the villa. To ensure both openness and liveability, the oor plan is split. The eastern section, at the street side, contains the more public functions: the entrance, study, kitchen and living; while the western section, furthest removed from the street, is reserved for the more intimate activities: a corridor that acts as TV lounge, the bedrooms and the bathroom. This means that the character of the functions gradually becomes more intimate. Each function has its own zone within the house, which can be cut off by means of translucent sliding walls.

LIVING IN THE T

GARDEN

o create openness and lightness and tot

give the residents the feeling living outside in the green, the house is entirely oriented to the secluded garden at the south. Every room in the villa looks directly out on to this garden, because three of the four faades are made of glass. The spacious wooden terrace forms a room outdoors, partly covered by a wooden awning supported by steel brackets that taper upwards. This gives it the appearance of oating above the ground. Ponds have been laid on both sides of the villa, so that the house here, too, appears to be raised above ground level, emphasising the lightness of the building.

THE LOCATION Dellis Cay

Paradise will open for visitors in the end of 2009

Wednesday, 9June, 2010

Humanity has always striven to recreate Paradise here on earth. What better description of Paradise than exuberant greenery, golden sand beach, crystal-clean waters, innite sky, serenity and the so hard to achieve feel of timelessness and peace? Actuated by this aspiration, The Property Collection the company behind this ambitious project has begun the construction of an outstanding resort, consisting of

luxurious villas, hotels and houses

. The action takes place in the Caribbean basin, to be more specic - on Dellis Cay, an island belonging to Turks and Caicos. To realize the project investors have invited eminent worldfamous names in the architecture such as Shigeru Ban, Kengo Kuma, Zaha Hadid, Carl Ettensperger, Piero Lissoni, David Chippereld and Chad Oppenheim.

Wednesday, 9June, 2010

ccording to Lissoni, The original idea was to make a paradise

without the buildings modifying the feeling of being in a paradise . The development was designed with a maximum respect for nature. also says Lissoni, who is responsible for creating 9 houses on the edge of the ocean, 9 private villas and 24 hotel residences. Dellis Cay has a surface of 560 acres and should hold 124 private villas, 154 residences, the Mandarin Oriental hotel, as well as a marina. It seems that the resort will turn into a little private VIP community with properties ranging from 2 to 20 million US dollars. Construction began on June 4th 2008 and is expected to be completed in the end of 2009. It is also expected for the resort to be sold out long before that, So if you want a piece of Paradise you should hurry up.

Armani

he building that

incorporates Armani/5th Avenue holds a very important place in the history of architecture because its faade is one of the first examples of the International Style. When one is dealing with such a cultural mile s tone , one must always bear in mind that the exterior is totally New York, while the interior should have its own identity. A reflection of the flair and aesthetic values that define the Giorgio Armani style.

The grand staircase is the focal point, an exciting sculptural feature which connects all the different levels that accommodate the Armani universe range by range. Innovative in both layout and content, Armani/5th Avenue is the first concept store in which all the Armani products are presented in a single space, where the same design has been adopted throughout: the subtle colours and restrained shapes emphasise the value of the product.

PROJECT NAME: ARMANI FIFTH AVENUE PROGRAMME: Emporio Armani, Giorgio Armani, Armani Casa, Armani Dolci, Armani Ristorante, Showroom, Bar SITE: New York, Usa CLIENT:Gruppo Giorgio Armani CONSULTANT: STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING: Gilberto Sarti; PROJECT CONSULTANT ON THE SITE: Davide Stolfi; LIGHTING DESIGNCONSULTANT: Speirs & Major Associates DATE 2007-2009 (Inauguration: 18th February 2009) ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT: DORIANA & MASSIMILIANO FUKSAS.
