The converter unit is a module for the assembly of the top-hat ral. The module can be mounted on a top-hat ral without additional assembly material. 11 facilitates the suppty of a motor and the retransmission of speed sensor signals to an SPC-control.
Functiona t Description:

The converter unit is fed with 24 Vde- The converter unit simultaneously supplies the motor with its operating vottage. The motor is connected with a speed sensor whose signals are transmitted lo the converter unit. In the converter unit the signals of the speed sensor are converted into SPC compat ble levets. The SPC detects the converted speed sensor signats and determines the traverse path and the number of motor revolutions respectively. Additionally the converter unit facilitates the speed control of the motor. This is achieved through the adjustment of the supply voltage of the motor by means o f a rotary potentiometer.
Functions:

The input voltage U1supplies for the entire converter unt. U1 is always 24Vde, The converter unit comprises of two separate functions: Voltage conversion The input voltage u, is converted to Uo by an adjustabte ltinear regulator. The output voltage Uo can be set by a potentiometer. A voltage range between app 5Vdc and 17Vdc is possibte. The output voltage Uo controts the revotutions per minute of the connected motor. Level translation A driver module of the company Allegro (module 1Cz;UDN2987A) serves asan interface for the translati on o f standard low-tevet togic signals to SPC compatible signats. lt translates TTL (5Vdc) and CMOS (12Vdc) logic leve! in 24Vdc tevel. With this tevel transtation TTL signals can e.g.be connected toa stored program control (SPC). All inputs (11 to 14), which are not used havelo be connected to earth. The outputs (01 lo 04) of the converter unit are short-circuit-proof In case of a short-circuited output, switch off the converter unit or rather the entire unit. After that remove the short circuit, check the connections once more and than start it up again. Outputs, which were briefly in a condition o f short circuit, are only reactivated after switching the converter unit off and on again.
