tsav, the three-day inter-collegiate techno-cultural fest of BMS College of Engineering, was a unique platform for the students to showcase their skills and talents. The campus was buzzing with activity and students from different parts of the City participated in it. Mad Ads, quiz, debate, online photography contest, football match, Eastern and Western dance competitions, Eastern and Western music were some of the events held. The most awaited part of the show was Whiplash, where two leading rock bands, Hungry and Cryptos, entertained the students. The college was decked up for the fest and the theme this year was All Around the World in Three Days. The entire campus was divided into different continents and students even decorated the campus with hand-made monuments like the Eiffel Tower. The volunteers made sure that things were in place and the events progressed smoothly. Rohith, one of the

he college years are always the best in ones life. The three to four years that one spends in an institution helps mould his or her life and personality. These years also build a lasting bond between juniors and seniors. After the ice-breaker sessions at the beginning of the academic year, many freshers say that they learn a lot from their seniors. And thats something I want my juniors to follow as well. I want them to explore all aspects of college culture and make the most out of the opportunities they come across, she adds. There are also those who say that the relationship between a senior and a junior has changed over the years. Senior and junior are only tags. The fest also had a section where budding photographers and artists were given a platform to showcase their talent. The photography and art exhibition was a huge hit among the visitors. Many could be seen appreciating the efforts of the students. Namratha, a second-year student and one of the organisers, informs that it was the theme that attracted many to the fest. The theme this year has attracted many people and our technical and finearts team has done a great job. The names of the events have been kept according to the theme and they have become popular, she says.

he students of HKBK Degree College recently celebrated their annual day, titled Protius 2013, at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. It was a grand occasion that the students were looking forward to for a while. As part of the annual day, the students formed groups and put up a variety of cultural events they stunned all those who had gathered to watch with their skills and poise. The programme began with a brief lamp-lighting ceremony, after which the cultural portion got off to a great start. It added the perfect touch to the occasion, since it was obvious that the students had put in a lot of effort to pull off some flawless performances on stage. There were a variety of dances, including classical and contemporary pieces for which the students practised long and hard. They dressed in their best to add to the per-

avishkaar, the annual techno-management fest of the IEEE Student Branch at M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), was held recently. Spread over three days, the eighth edition saw the participation of students from Bangalore Institute of Technology, R N Shetty Institute of Technology, K S Institute of Technology, PES Institute of Technology, University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, B M S College of Engineering and Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering (Shimoga). There were some interesting events to choose from paper presentation, gaming, techno-management quiz, business plan, cyber treasure hunt, design and debugging, Kreatronics, robotics and Algomach (on spot programming) to name a few. Events got tougher with each round and this was much appreciated by the students. The track for robotics was very challenging and smooth. The fest, in general, was very well organised and gave us a platform to put theory to practical use, shares Samrudhi, a participant of Bangalore Institute of Technology. The participants were quite content with the level of competition, given that the best colleges in the City were their

competitors. A good number of people turned up for the fest. Events like cyber treasure hunt and Algomach that I participated in were both interesting and fun, says Sahana M N, a participant from PES Institute of Technology. I participated in the paper presentation, which was a very good experience because I got to talk about nano materials to like-minded peers. But it would have been better if it was more interactive, says Gaurav Das, a student of MSRIT. For the organising team, it

was good to see their hard work pay off. For the past few years, Aavishkaar has been a purely technical fest. But this year, the management department said that they wanted to participate and so, we have incorporated such management events as well, notes Harshitha R, a sponsorship coordinator. Its hard to get people to come for technical fests in general. But our team is more than happy with the response we have got, she adds.
