Saifs guts appreciated

D
irector duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D K, who are looking forward to the release of their zombie film Go Goa Gone, think that having an established actor like Saif Ali Khan will help them reach a wider audience. Go Goa Gone is being promoted as Indias first zombie film and will see Saif as a Russian mafia leader, who is also a zombie-hunter. By having a superstar, we will be able to reach out to more people. Somebody sitting far away will come to watch the film because of Saif. However, the film depends on its content first and then on Saif, the director duo say. For this film, we felt the difference of having a superstar. I think a superstar helps in bringing audience to the theatres for a film like this, they add. Saifs new look in the film has taken many by surprise. The actor is seen in an allblonde look, beefed up with tattoos. Word on the grapevine has it that he also learnt to speak Russian for the film. He is a member of the Russian mafia. So, Saif has been given that kind of look beefed up, blonde and with tattoos. The credit goes to Saif for trying this look. He had the guts to do something that is radically different, the duo say. They admit that the Nawab of Pataudi was the first and only choice for them. Co-produced by Saif Ali Khan, Go Goa Gone is a story about two friends played by Kunal Khemu and Vir Das, who travel to Goa with another friend, Anand Tiwari. When the trailer of the film was launched online, it got over two million hits and both the directors are quite happy with the reaction. When we launched the trailer, we were anxious as the concept is new. Our friends have liked it but we were waiting for the reaction of outsiders. Now, looking at the response, were very happy. It is very encouraging, the duo say. The film is a comedy. There is an edge in the film and that is brought in by zombies. All those who know about zombies can enjoy the film, while those who have no clue about it can also enjoy it, they add.

Paresh gets behind the wheel

aresh Rawal, who will be seen playing a truck driver in Life Mein Hungama Hain, refused to drive a truck because he felt a little intimated by the size of the vehicle. Paresh had to drive a big truck in the film. But when he saw it, he refused to drive it. He was a little scared because he had never driven such a big vehicle before. However, we had no other option since he plays the character of a truck driver, director Sunil Advani says. We were able to persuade him and he drove the truck with the ease of an expert, he adds. The film is based on Ruskin Bonds story The Running Away. Its a funfilled childrens film peppered with the unexpected adventures of two runaways, subtly underscoring the balanced view between discipline and freedom. The film also features Saksham Kulkarni, Sonu Bakshi, Jackie Shroff, Urmila Matondkar and Boman Irani among others. It is produced under the banner of Nine Lives Films.

A cross-cultural love story Twist in

A
ctor Emraan Hashmi will play a Maharashtrian in the upcoming film, Ghanchakkar, says the films director Rajkumar Gupta. Ghanchakkar also stars Vidya Balan. Emraan Hashmi is playing a Maharashtrian in Ghanchakkar. It is interesting because I think he hasnt played one in his career. The film has been entirely shot in Mumbai, says Rajkumar. The film is about a quirky marriage between a Maharashtrian man and a loud Punjabi housewife essayed by Vidya Balan. Vidya speaks Punjabi in the film but you will have to wait to see how Emraan got the nuances of playing a Maharashtrian, adds the filmmaker. Emraans character is called Sanjay Athray, born and brought up in Mumbai. He is shown to be a guy who has come up in life the hard way, someone who was a lock-picker in his early days but who now lives a respectable life. Ghanchakkar will release on June 28.
