SPECIAL NOTE Rose is such an expensive oil, there have been many attempts to produce rose essential oil from a large variety of roses. Most of the literature on the proven history of use of rose essential oil comes from the use of the oil of Rosa damascene(a). Occasionally you will come across the more exotic rose essential oils:

COUNTRIES OF PRODUCTION Believed to be native to the Orient. Now mainly cultivated in Bulgaria, Turkey, Morocco & France. Other types are grown in China, India and Russia. India produces rose water and Aytar, a mixture of rose otto and sandalwood PARTS USED EXTRACTION METHOD Flower petals The essential oil produced by steam distillation of fresh petals A concrete & absolute are made by solvent extraction of fresh petals 0.02 0.05%
