Statement of Purpose A twig and a lever were probably the first mechanical device that we, as humans, invented.

From there, it has been a long, eventful journey, one filled with huge accomplishments. I have always been fascinated about this aspect of Science, especially because of its practical day-to-day application and unlimited possibilities. During my Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, I learnt a lot about the theoretical aspects of how formulae are derived, the basic criteria of design, analysing objects and their behaviour in their respective natural surroundings. It was also during this course two subjects which caught my eye one of these was, Mechanical Vibrations, while the other was Thermal Science. It was in the 6th Semester that I learnt about Mechanical Vibrations, and the same semester saw me studying Numerical Methods like Holzar, and Multi Degree Concepts, all going to help in solving real time problems associated with vibrations. Thermal Science fascinates me with its various Thermodynamic Cycles and techniques which involve Air-Craft Refrigeration, Power Production Plants (Boilers, Steam Turbines), and Gas Turbine Plants. So fascinating were these topics for me that they become the subject for my projects. I researched and presented a project titled Wind-Belt, the most special part being that it is, at the time of writing, in the process of being presented at a National Level Technical Paper Presentation. Wind-Belts offer great opportunity to use a cheap renewable source of energy, replacing expensive conventional means of producing electricity (like fossil fuels and other methods that cause depletion of natural resources and increase pollution levels).A Wind- Belt uses wind energy to generate electricity using the principle of Electromagnetic Induction. This is the technology of the future. Also memorable was a presentation I made in the 5th Semester. It was based on Aerodynamics, and helped me develop further knowledge in the areas of design. My presentation was well-received and personally applauded by Professor S. D. Jhadav, who is also the Head of the Department. I also, as a part of a group,

have worked on a short research on the Stirling Engine in my 4th Semester, where we analysed the Stirling Engine and learned the various ways to calculate the power output of a prototype. This research acted as a trigger making me opt for Thermal Sciences for my Post Graduation Program. In Engineering, the practical side is just as important as the theoretical, and with that in mind, I interned for a month at Das Offshore Engineering Pvt. Ltd, an organization that produces and fabricates pipes used in oil extraction plants. During my internship, I worked on the shop floor, learning methods adopted for wielding these huge spools. This stint also helped me hone my management and leadership skills. I would now like to go on working and earn an M Sc Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After completing this program, I look at working as a part-time Researcher, as well as starting my own venture. My country of choice, for a post graduate degree, is unarguable the US. For me, the program and coursework that I want, the research facilities I am looking for, as well as the global exposure in terms of education, are all in the US. When I visited the U.S.I.E.F. (United States Education Foundation in India), I found, to my amazement, that US education is 6 years ahead of the rest of the world. With a constantly evolving curriculum, the US is the country for me, where I know I will successfully complete my M Sc Program.

I know that my inherent skills, knowledge, accomplishments, experience will enable me to make the most of this opportunity. I know I will achieve the success I have planned for, and I only wish for the privilege of having your institute powering my journey to success.
