New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007

General
64-Bit Hardware Environment Support SmartPlant Instrumentation now supports a 32-bit or 64-bit hardware environment and a 32-bit operating system. Database Platform Support SmartPlant Instrumentation Version 2007 supports Oracle 10g and SQL Server 2005. Removing Spaces in File Names When defining a document number naming convention, you can set the software to remove spaces from the name of the document files if the source document item has spaces. For example, when you generate a loop drawing without opening the drawing, the software saves the file with the name of the source loop number. If the source loop number has spaces, the software removes the spaces from the drawing file name. Custom Fields in Instrument Tag Properties SmartPlant Instrumentation now allows you to edit values in custom fields from the instrument tag properties. Associating an In-Line Tag with a Wired Tag You can associate an in-line tag (non-wired) with a wired tag and then view the two tags together on an Enhanced SmartPlant Loop drawing. Rule Manager Utility A new utility is now supplied with SmartPlant Instrumentation. This utility allows you to create, manipulate, and manage sets of consistency and validation rules that are applied to specific properties of specific item types. Naming Convention for CS Tags You can now set a naming convention for CS tags.

Administration
Flexible Naming Convention Replaces Previous Standards The flexible naming convention now replaces all previous naming convention standards for all item types, allowing you to set your naming convention without any limitations. Naming Convention Per Tag Class The naming convention is now set per tag class within a specific unit. Removing Deleted Windows Users from SmartPlant Instrumentation If you enabled the use of Windows authentication logon method in SmartPlant Instrumentation, the software now automatically detects those users who have been deleted from Windows groups and allows you to permanently remove these users from SmartPlant Instrumentation.

As-Built and Projects

Claiming or Merging Items from the Command Line It is now possible to use command line parameters to claim As-Built items for a project or merge project items with As-Built. Updating Properties of Project Items Previously Claimed as Dummy Items When claiming an As-Built item that already exists in the project as a dummy item, the dummy item becomes a project item. In addition, the software now updates the properties of this item. Previously, the software only updated the item's status from a dummy item to a project item. Indicating Dummy Items in the Claim Buffer In the Administration module, items that appear in the Claim Buffer as dummy items are now indicated as such with a designated icon. Reclaiming Items It is now possible to set preferences so that you can claim the same items again. When an item exists in a project, reclaiming the item results in an automatic update of the project item properties, connections and associations. If you previously deleted an item in the project, this item reappears in the project after reclaiming. Reserving Instrument Tags and Loop Numbers for As-Built In addition to reserving instrument tags and loop numbers for a project created in an Operating owner domain, you can now reserve instrument tags and loop numbers for As-Built.

6 SmartPlant Instrumentation New Features

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007 Merging Items Without Deletion from the Project The System Administrator can set the software to merge items without deleting them from the project. After making this setting, on merging project data with As-Built, view-only copies of merged items remain in the project. You cannot delete these copies or update their properties. However you can claim these items for another project even if you are working in exclusive claim mode. Displaying As-Built Item Properties in a Project When working in a project with As-Built items displayed, in the Domain Explorer, it is now possible to select an As-Built items and open a view-only dialog box showing the item properties. Claiming Control System Tags with DCS Panels When claiming a DCS panel with all of the panel sub-items, the software now also claims the associated control system tags. Copying Project Items to the Merge Buffer Using the Domain Explorer In a project opened in an Operating owner domain, in the Domain Explorer, you can now select items you want to merge with As-Built and copy them to the Merge Buffer for further processing from the Administration module or for merging the copied items using command line parameters. Claiming Items from One Project to Another When working in non-exclusive claim mode, a Project Administrator can now select a project as a claim source and then claim the project data for another project in the same Operating owner domain. Previously, it was only possible to use As-Built as a claim source. Updating Properties of Items Previously Claimed as Dummy Items When converting a dummy item to a fully-functional item by claiming this item again from As-Built, the software now updates the item properties using the As-Built item properties as a source.

Browser Manager
Archive Browser SmartPlant Instrumentation now allows you to view all archived documents in the Archive Browser. For certain documents (such as process data, manufacturer), you can perform a comparison between archives of the same document.

SmartPlant Instrumentation New Features 7

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007 Log Browsers You can now generate reports that show when changes were made to specific documents. You can generate reports for Cables, Control System Tags, Equipment, Instruments, Lines, Loops, Panels, and Wiring Equipment.

Database Initialization
Initializing a Database Using SmartPlant Engineering Manager You can now perform many database activities using SmartPlant Engineering Manager. Note that once you initialize a database from SmartPlant Engineering Manager, you can no longer use the equivalent actions in the Administration module. For details of specific activities that you can perform from SmartPlant Engineering Manager, see the SmartPlant Engineering Manager User's Guide.

Database Maintenance
INTOOLS_ENGINEERING Role Removed from the System Account The DB Setup Utility no longer grants the INTOOLS_ENGINEERING role to the System account of the Oracle database. Creating the INTOOLS_ENGINEERING Role Without a Password The DB Setup Utility now creates the INTOOLS_ENGINEERING role without a password. If your corporate security requires this role have a password, you can define the password manually after completing the SmartPlant Instrumentation database setup. Previously, the INTOOLS_ENGINEERING role was created with the INTOOLS_ENGINEERING password.

DCS Vendor Interfaces

Yokogawa User Interface Reference changes have been made to the Yokogawa user interface.

Dimensional Data for Piping

Copying Vendor Data to Working When you copy Vendor data to Working the revision number increases if the status remains the same or set to 0 when the status is changed.

Documents, Reports, and Revisions

Generating and Printing Documents Associated with a Loop or Instrument You can now generate and print a point-to-point wiring diagram and enhanced report for a loop you select in the Domain Explorer. If you select an instrument under a loop, you can print all documents assigned to the current instrument tag and also generate and print a point-to-point wiring diagram and enhanced report for the source loop. Modifying Document Numbers in a Document Browser View It is now possible to modify document numbers for a group of documents. You need to create a browser view for the Document Browser and include the Document Number and Document Type columns. This view, according to your filter settings, lists all documents belonging to a specific document type and displays their document numbers. You can modify document numbers for each document as you require.

Enhanced Reports
Cable Block Diagrams SmartPlant Instrumentation now allows you to create and view Cable Block Diagrams using the Enhanced Report Utility. CS Tags in Enhanced Reports You can now display CS tags with a loop reference in enhanced reports. Displaying Tags-with-Wiring in Enhanced Reports Blocks (Symbols with Macros) Only macros that apply to the tag number entity type can be used in the Enhanced Reports blocks. These macros can retrieve information from the Instrument Index, instrument custom fields and user-defined tables, process data, calculation, calibration or spec modules. Macros pointing elsewhere will be ignored. Resolving Macros Within Customized Enhanced Report Symbols You can place macros directly on the .sym files used for enhanced reports, attach them to an item, and resolve the macros within symbols. (This refers to custom mode; for shipped symbols it is already implemented).

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007

Explorer Windows
Virtual Tags in the Domain Tree View The software now places virtual tags in the Domain Explorer tree view as child items of Fieldbus tags in the Fieldbus Segments folder. SmartPlant Instrumentation Explorer Custom Views SmartPlant Instrumentation allows you to define custom views for the Domain Explorer and the Reference Explorer. The software lets you select a folder or multiple folders and add these folders with their child items to a custom view that you select. Note that the custom views that you define are not available to other users of SmartPlant Instrumentation. Filtering Items SmartPlant Instrumentation now has an improved filtering mechanism that allows you to set a filter based on an item type or an item name. Item type filters can be applied to an entire tree view of the active Explorer window or to a selected folder or node that contains child items. Item name filters are set for the whole tree view of the active Explorer window. Note that filter definitions are applicable to custom views of the Domain or Reference Explorer. Creating Panel Manufacturer Sub-Folders A new folder is available for telecom panels that are arranged according to panel manufacturer. This folder holds panel manufacturer sub-folders where the appropriate panels reside. You can create your own panel manufacturer sub-folders and once you associate a telecom panel with a particular manufacturer, the panel will become available in that folder.

Fieldbus
Terminators on Connected Terminals SmartPlant Instrumentation no longer prevents you from creating terminator on terminals that have already been connected to wires. Sorting the Associated Segments in the Connection Window When associating a segment with a home-run cable in the Connection window, the items on the Associate segment select list have been sorted alphabetically. Segment Notes on Segment Properties Dialog Box You can now add a brief note when editing the properties of a Foundation Fieldbus segment, Profibus DP segment, and Profibus PA segment.

10 SmartPlant Instrumentation New Features

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007 Segment Name on the Tag Properties Dialog Box The software now displays the name of the associated segment on the Fieldbus tab of the Tag Number Properties dialog box. Profibus Segments in the Segments Folder of the Domain Explorer In addition to Foundation Fieldbus segments, the Segments folder of the Domain Explorer now contains Profibus DP and Profibus PA segments. Setting in a Multi-Input Device for an Instrument to Appear in Segment I/O Assignment When creating a multi-input device panel, the software now allows you to set an input terminal or connector to appear in the segment I/O assignment. DP Segments in the Fieldbus I/O Assignment The software now allows you to select DP segments when effecting Fieldbus I/O assignment.

Hook-Up Drawings
Opening Hook-Up Reports by Selecting Document Numbers You can now open a group of reports by selecting the document numbers of previously generated reports. Hook-Ups in Enhanced Report Format It is now possible to generate hook-up drawings using the Enhanced Report Utility. Reorganization of Hook-Up Management Options Hook-up creation, management, and assignment options have been moved from the Hook-Up Manager to the Domain Explorer. Hook-up item library options have been moved to the Reference Explorer. The Hook-Up Manager has been removed from the software. Generating External Hook-Up Drawings Using the Enhanced Report Utility Using the Enhanced Report utility you can generate hook-up drawings originating in AutoCAD, MicroStation and SmartSketch. Hook-up drawings comprise of a drawing, a title block, a block, and macros within the block. The Enhanced Report utility handles each format differently. Support of AutoCAD 2005 and 2006 You can now generate hook-up drawings using AutoCAD 2005 or 2006.

Instrumentation Maintenance
Maintenance Event Records It is possible to create records of repairs, tests, inspections, calibrations, and so forth. These records are called maintenance event records. You can associate several maintenance event records with a particular instrument, provided that this instrument belongs to one of the following tag classes: Conventional, Fieldbus, HART, or Profibus. Note that for an Operating owner domain, this option applies to instruments in As-Built only.

Interface to SmartPlant Electrical

Creating Electrical Tags in SmartPlant Instrumentation You can create electrical tags (signals) in SmartPlant Instrumentation, and publish them to SmartPlant Electrical for association with electrical equipment. Alternatively, you can assign the electrical tags to electrical equipment within SmartPlant Instrumentation and publish the data back to SmartPlant Electrical.

KKS
KKS Support Support for KKS mode includes the following features:

When copying a unit, the software implements special handling of KKS conventions (PBS/Total plant and cable numbering). KKS supports naming conventions for Fieldbus, Profibus, HART, and Telecom tags as well as for virtual tags. When editing cable names where the application area or system classification was changed, the software provides an option to suggest new cable numbering. For terminal properties, a calculated field is used for the connection identification. This field consists of the strip name and terminal number, for example '-X:+1'. Control system tags inherit their names from the associated instrument tag numbers.

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007

Loop Drawings
Associating CAD Drawing Blocks to Loop Number It is now possible to assign a CAD drawing block to the loop number. After associating a block with a loop, when generating a loop drawing, the software always uses the loop block and ignores any instrument blocks that this loop might contain. Dissociating CAD Drawings from Loop Number It is now possible to dissociate from a loop number a CAD loop drawing that was created outside the SmartPlant Instrumentation environment. Copying Automatically Associated Blocks It is now possible to copy CAD drawing blocks from all instrument tags of a specific loop to all instruments of one or more target loops. You copy automatically assigned blocks at the <plant> level to loops belonging to different <units> of the current plant. The block that you can copy must be assigned to the source loop automatically (via the instrument type). Managing CAD Loop Blocks You can now manage CAD drawing block types and blocks in the Domain Explorer. Reorganization of Loop Drawing Management Options Loop drawing generation, block assignment, and loop drawing property management options have been moved from the Loop Manager to the Domain Explorer. The Loop Manager has been removed from the software. Support of AutoCAD 2006 You can now generate loop drawings using AutoCAD 2006.

Multi-Input Devices
Defining a New Terminal Configuration When creating a convention multi-input device panel, the Multi-Input Field Device wizard now allows you to define a new terminal configuration. Clicking the Ellipsis button on the Define the Input/Output Configuration page of the wizard opens the Terminal Configuration dialog box. Recognizing Signals From Distant Device Panels Now multi-input devices can recognize input signals from distant device panels.

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007

Process Data
Duplicating Lines You can now duplicate lines along with their matching ansi/din piping data from the index module (similar to tag duplication).

Save as Excel
Support for Excel 2003 SmartPlant Instrumentation now supports saving specifications as .xls files using Excel 2003, in addition to previously supported Excel 2000 and Excel XP.

SmartPlant Integration
Improved Implementation of Schema Mapping Custom fields are used for defining new properties for mapping, and appropriate supporting tables are used for defining new values in enumerated lists (select lists). Publishing Wiring Reports Several wiring reports can now be published from SmartPlant Instrumentation. Upgrading the Map Schema A new command, Upgrade Schema, is available on the SmartPlant menu. This command updates the IntoolsMap.xml file with schema changes that you may have made in a previous version of the software.

Specifications
Specifying a Fluid State for a Form Data Template The Select Fluid State pop-up window no longer appears when you open a form data template. When you open a new form data template, you can select a fluid state from the appropriate select list. In an existing form data template, the software always displays the fluid state you selected previously. The Select Fluid State pop-up window only appears when you try to open a specification for an instrument that does not have process data defined. Filtering Spec Revisions by Form Number When managing or printing spec revisions in the Specifications module, you can now filter revisions by form number.

14 SmartPlant Instrumentation New Features

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007 Filtering Spec Revisions by Plant Hierarchy Item When managing or printing spec revisions in the Specifications module, you can now filter revisions by a plant hierarchy item. For example, you can set the software to display a particular revision that you created in the current < unit>. Sorting Spec Pages Alphabetically According to Page Name On the Select Specification Page dialog box, where you select a spec page for displaying in the Page Editor, the pages are now always sorted alphabetically according to page name. It is possible to sort pages by double-clicking one of the following column headers of the dialog box: Specification Page, Description, or Notes. Double-clicking a column header sorts the pages in ascending order. Doubleclicking a column header again sorts the pages in descending order. Text Wrapping in a Multi-Tag List In a multi-tag list, the software automatically wraps value strings that do not fix the column width. Displaying a Sorted List of Multi-Tag Spec Document Numbers On the New Specification dialog box, multi-tag spec document numbers now appear sorted alphanumerically in ascending order. Treating Source Fields that Have Spaces as Blank Fields When copying data from a form data template or a specification to another specification, the software now treats source fields that only have spaces as fields that contain no value. Instrument Composite Specifications It is now possible to generate a specification that can include instrument tags belonging to the same loop or to different loops. In contrast to multi-tag instrument specifications, which contain pages of common properties in addition to the SEE LIST page, such composite specs do not have common pages and can include tags whose process functions are not identical. Also, it is possible to create a composite spec that includes process data cases of a particular instrument. Loop Composite Specifications It is now possible to generate a specification for a loop and its instrument tags. Such a specification is called a loop composite specification because the pages contain several sections: one for the loop number and the other for the loop instrument tags. All of the sections can appear on the same page of the generated specification.

Wiring
I/O Assignment
I/O Assignment Options for Instrument Tags with Changed Wiring When making changes in the wiring for instrument tags for which I/O assignment has been defined, the software detects these changes and lets you select an appropriate option that deals with the I/O assignment of the affected instrument tags. You can shift the I/O assignment to a new channel, remove the existing I/O assignment, retain the existing I/O assignment and create a new one for the same signal, or simply undo the current action in the Connection or I/O Assignment window. Shifting Instruments in the I/O Assignment Window You can shift the assignment of an instrument to another unassigned channel by simply pressing and holding the Ctrl key while dragging the instrument to another unassigned channel. You cannot change the assignment this way if the target channel has already been assigned to another instrument. Note that when changing the assignment, the software retains the existing control system data. Showing Assigned Channels Claimed by Other Projects When working in a project, the I/O Assignment window now allows you to see assigned channels that have been claimed by other projects. You can also see assigned channels that belong to As-Built. These channels are displayed in red and there is an icon to the left of the assigned channel that indicates that you can click this icon to see which project the channel is claimed for.

Wiring Equipment
Associating I/O Terminations with I/O Cards The software now provides you with a more efficient way to associate I/O terminations with I/O cards. When editing the properties of an I/O termination, you no longer need to select a cabinet, rack, and slot in order to get to the I/O card that you want to associate. You can select an appropriate I/O card from the Domain Explorer and on the I/O Termination Properties dialog box, the software will automatically show which cabinet, rack, and slot that it belongs to.

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007

Wiring and Control System Instrument Type Profile

Setting Starting Signal Levels for Cable Sets in Wiring Instrument Type Profiles When defining the wiring and control system instrument type profile, you can set the starting signal level for the selected cable set. You use this option to control the signal level sequence of the cable set wires when the selected reference cable contains multiple cable sets with overall shields that are not connected on the device panel side but are connected on the junction box side. You can enter a starting signal level to eliminate the sequence uniqueness problem when connecting the current cable set on the junction box side. When the software connects these cable sets on the device panel side, the wire group levels are assigned sequentially for each wire. However, on the junction box side, the software attempts to assign the next signal level for the overall shield and this can cause a sequence uniqueness problem. If there are no overall shields that need to be connected on the junction box side, do not enter any value so that the software can assign sequence levels sequentially for each wire.

Cables, Cable Sets, and Wires

Cables Without Cable Sets and Wires This feature allows you to create a cable that does not have any sets or wires. You can use such cables in the early stages of your design and when creating cable block diagrams where it is not necessary to specify cable types, the number of cable sets and wires in the cables, and so forth. The software also enables you to apply selected reference cables to project cable so that you can add cables sets and wires as you require. Regional Wire Colors SmartPlant Instrumentation now allows you to apply regional wire colors to all of your project cables that were created based on reference cables. This feature is especially useful when you need to copy projects for use in different parts of the world and use the appropriate regional wire colors. Note that this feature works under cable type dependency.

Connections and Signal Propagation

Propagating Tag Signals Through Jumpers Normally, the software does not propagate tag signals through jumpers. It is now possible to override this limitation by selecting a preference on the Preferences > Wiring > Jumpers dialog box.

SmartPlant Instrumentation New Features 17

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007 Making Connections on the Right Side of DCS and PLC Panels SmartPlant Instrumentation now allows you to make connections on the right side of DCS and PLC panels. Note, however, that connections on the right side increase the signal level by one. Creating Multiple Jumpers The software now allows you to create and connect multiple jumpers in a repetitive way. You can define constant gaps between the jumpered terminals if required. Also, you can jumper the last remaining terminal in the selected terminal pattern if required. Automatic Creation of Signals When Associating Non-Wiring Instruments with Connected Cables, Cable Sets, or Wires This feature makes it possible to associate a conventional or electrical non-wiring instrument with a connected wire, cable set, or cable. Dragging such an instrument from the Instruments folder of the Domain Explorer to a connected wire, cable set, or cable in the Connection window automatically creates a signal from that instrument and propagates this signal along the connected wiring path. Note that non-wiring instruments are instruments that were created based on instrument type profiles that have no wiring.

Conventional and Device Panels

Creating Terminals and Connectors on Device Panels SmartPlant Instrumentation now provides for the creation of instruments that have both terminals and connectors. To create such a device, you need to create a reference device panel under which you create a connector and a terminal strip. You can then define an instrument type profile that contains a reference device panel with both conventional and plug-and-socket connections. Panel Manufacturer-Specific Field Headers The software now enables you to customize panel manufacturer-specific headers that appear not only on the panel properties dialog boxes but also on all the property dialog boxes of all the relevant child items of the panels as well as in all the appropriate reports.

Reports
Restarting Panel-Strip Report Pagination When not previewing a report before printing, the software allows you to set a preference that restarts the pagination of the report for each terminal strip. This preference is available for reports with adjacent connections only.

18 SmartPlant Instrumentation New Features

New Features in SmartPlant Instrumentation 2007 Filtering Items by Section for Cable Routing Reports When generating a cable routing report, you can now filter the selection of items by section. Also, when generating a drum summary report, you can filter the selections by pulling area. Showing Cable Gland Data in Cable Schedule Reports Cable schedule with routing reports now display cable gland data. Channel Addresses on DCS I/O Map Reports DCS I/O map reports now show I/O channel addresses. Number of Ports on Junction Box Reports The software now displays the number of ports when generating junction box reports (Wiring Reports > Plant Panel List > Junction Box). Showing I/O Channel Data in Panel-Strip Reports You can set a preference that will instruct the software to display I/O channel data in panel-strip reports. The software can display I/O channels, apparatus channels, and non-I/O channels.
