Preparing to install
Contents of shipment The Allplan on Mac Setup package consists of the following components: Allplan on Mac Setup data medium (including Parallels Desktop) Parallels license key (included in shipment; can also be ordered while installing a trial version (see "Special features relevant to Allplan on Mac trial installations" on page 6)) Windows 7 64-Bit Professional Service Pack 1 operating system, original Windows data medium Windows Product Key (comes with Windows) Allplan 2012-1 data medium Language of Macintosh operating system and Windows 7 DVD The language of the Macintosh operating system installed and the language of the Windows 7 64-bit Professional Service Pack 1 data medium must be the same. If necessary, you can change the language of the Macintosh operating system just for running the Allplan on Mac Setup. Scheduling Make sure that you have enough time (about 60 minutes) to install Parallels Desktop, the Windows operating system and Allplan 2012 in one go. Documentation You can find advanced information in the Documents folder on the Allplan on Mac Setup data medium. This folder also includes the Allplan 2012 Manual. Please read the installation chapter before you start installing. Parallels Desktop has already been installed. If Parallels Desktop has already been installed on your computer, you cannot use the all-up Allplan on Mac Setup for the installation. However, you can configure Parallels Desktop for the Allplan installation. You can find important information on the Internet (mac.allplan.com/parallels).

How to install Installing - step by step

This section describes the all-up Allplan on Mac Setup for Allplan 2012 on a Macintosh computer. To install Allplan 2012 as a stand-alone version on a Macintosh computer Make sure that you have enough time (about 60 minutes) to install Parallels Desktop, the Windows operating system and Allplan 2012 in one go. Check that you have all the data media and license keys ready: Allplan on Mac Setup data medium Parallels license key Windows 7 64-bit Professional Service Pack 1 data medium Windows Product Key Allplan 2012 data medium 1 Insert the Allplan on Mac Setup data medium into the drive. The data medium appears as an icon on the desktop. 2 Double-click this icon to open the contents of the data medium. 3 Double-click Setup. Setup starts and the welcome screen appears. 4 Click Next to confirm the welcome screen. 5 Accept the terms of the Windows License Agreement and click Next. 6 Accept the terms of the Parallels License Agreement and click Next. 7 Fill out the next dialog box: User name Enter the user name of the Windows user. This user name is required for logging on to Windows (if this is not done automatically) or for connecting to the network. Password, Repeat password Type in your Windows password and repeat it. This password is required for logging on to Windows (if this is not done automatically) or for connecting to the network. Windows computer name Type in the computer name of the virtual machine. This name also serves as the Parallels profile name.

Note: Never use the computer name of the Macintosh computer as this would lead to two computers of the same name on the internal network. Windows Product Key Enter the Product Key for Windows 7 64-bit. This key is included when you purchase the operating system. You can also install without the Product Key. For example, trial installations (see "Special features relevant to Allplan on Mac trial installations" on page 6) do not require a product key. But you always need a Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 DVD. After expiration of the trial phase, you need to activate the Windows operating system so that you can use it permanently. Parallels License Key (mandatory) The Parallels License Key is required for Setup. It is included when you purchase the program. When installing a trial version (see "Special features relevant to Allplan on Mac trial installations" on page 6), you can get a trial license by clicking the Parallels Trial Key button. The browser starts. The entries you make here are used for the subsequent installations of Parallels and Windows. All that remains is to enter the MacAdmin password. 8 Click Start Installation. 9 Cancel takes you back to the previous dialog box, where you can check your entries. To start installing, click OK. 10 Enter the MacAdmin password and click OK. Now Parallels Desktop is being installed in the background; this can take some minutes. As soon as the installation of Parallels Desktop is complete, the Allplan on Mac Setup data medium ejects. Tip: While running the Allplan on Mac Setup, you can continue to work on your Macintosh computer. However, please make sure that you do not close the corresponding windows. Keep an eye on these windows in the background so that you can react to any prompts. 11 Insert the Windows 7 64-bit Professional Service Pack 1 DVD into the drive and click OK. This installs Windows 7 64-bit Professional Service Pack 1 on the virtual machine. A window opens displaying the progress of the installation. Note: If you install without the Windows Product Key, a dialog box will open so that you can select the Windows 7 Edition. Wait until the virtual machine reboots and you are prompted to switch to the Allplan 2012 data medium.

12 Insert the Allplan 2012 data medium into the drive and click OK to confirm. 13 As soon as Parallels and Windows are installed completely, a dialog box appears. Click Exit. The installation of Allplan usually starts automatically. 14 Follow the instructions issued by the Allplan Setup. Press the F1 key to get Help. 15 In the Select destination paths dialog box, you specify the folders where the Allplan program and the Allplan data are to be installed. The program folder should be on the virtual machine. You can accept the folder proposed. The central file storage folder, on the other hand, must not be on the virtual machine. Use the Parallels Shared Folder (PSF). Click Browse, select Network, PSF and Home. Then click Create new folder and create a new file storage folder (\Data\Nemetschek\Allplan, for example) or select a network path. 16 Follow the instructions issued by the Allplan Setup. Click Finish to complete the installation of Allplan.

Special features relevant to Allplan on Mac trial installations

To install a trial version, you can request the all-up Allplan on Mac Setup along with the current Allplan 2012 DVD from Nemetschek Allplan GmbH. Parallels Desktop is included in the all-up Allplan on Mac Setup. Allplan 2012 is required as a DVD. Please note that at the moment you cannot use the all-up Allplan on Mac Setup to install a program you have downloaded from the Allplan website. The Allplan Setup includes trial licenses you can use to test the program for 30 days. Running Allplan on Mac as a trial version requires the following components: Parallels license key for a trial installation You can order the Parallels license key while installing. To do this, you need to be connected to the Internet. After you have downloaded the trial license, it is valid for 30 days.

Data medium providing a Windows 7 64-bit operating system with Service Pack 1 You can use any Windows 7 64-bit edition with Service Pack 1. We recommend Windows 7 64-bit Professional. The language of the Macintosh operating system installed and the language of the Windows 7 64-bit data medium must be the same. If necessary, you can change the language of the Macintosh operating system just for running the Allplan on Mac Setup. If a valid Product Key is not available, you can only use Windows 7 until the trial phase expires. After expiration of the trial phase, you need to activate the Windows operating system so that you can use it permanently.
