Tig Poultry Farms (TPF) is a versatile poultry farm in Kumasi, established by Sylvestre Akuoko in 1997.

It is located at Mamponteng, a suburb of Kumasi and has been operating since 1997. The business began as a small poultry farm with 600 layers and 350 broilers. Through dedicated services and hard work, the company has developed dramatically over the years and is now regarded as the biggest poultry industry in Mamponteng. The farms hatchery has a setter capacity of 150,000 eggs and a Hatcher capacity of 90,000 eggs while current day old chick production is about 80,000 per week which is distributed to poultry farmers throughout the district. TPF has also set up a six ton per hour capacity feed mill for producing poultry feed for our own consumption and for supply to small and medium scale poultry farms all over Ghana. Not only does TPF specialise in poultry, they also engage in other agricultural productions including; fish farming, plantain, mango and pineapple cultivation. Apart from dealing in poultry products, fish farming and cultivation of crops, TPF introduced a consultancy division in 2010 with the sole aim of providing advisory services to new and potential poultry farmers. Those who patronize this service pay a consultancy fee and receive continued support from TPF to ensure that they minimize problems and capitalize on the huge expertise of Mr. Akuoko and other farmers. This division has the potential of accelerating the companys growth as it contributed about a fourth in revenues in 2011. Though it has a relatively short history (compared to popular Poultry Farms like Akate Farms and Mfum Farms), Tig Farms successes which could be attributed, in part, to its effort at improving strategies and making use of modern technology. Poultry production is a prime example of a vertically integrated agricultural industry. Like other poultry farms, TPF makes use of intensive rearing systems of birds. It also ensures efficient feed conversion ratios. Products are of handy size and ready marketability. It is not surprising that it is currently showing a strong growth in output as compared to its first three years of operation. While there is a strong market demand and a continuing increase in production skills, further expansion of the industry is dependent on continued and improved availability of capital (for infrastructure, marketing and working), poultry feedstuff of the appropriate quality, integration of all systems from egg fertilization to consumption of product, management and business acumen, skilled labour, marketing (in terms of quality, consistency and continuity of product) advice and provision of quality, disease - free chicks.

Tig farm aspires to be one of the leading names in the Ghanaian poultry industry. Having realized that poultry farming is a viable business anytime any day; in that the produces serve as a main source or a surrogate of protein to many citizens of Ghana and food as a fundamental requirement of man, regardless of the spate of economic conditions in the country, poultry products will be demanded.
