Jon 1:1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Jon 1:2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. Jon 1:4 But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Jon 1:5 Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. A truck driver was hauling a load of 500 penguins to the zoo. Unfortunately, his truck broke down. He eventually waved down another truck and offered the driver $500 to take the penguins to the zoo. The next day the first truck driver got his truck fixed and drove into town and couldnt believe his eyes! Just ahead of him he saw the second truck driver crossing the road with the 500 penguins waddling single file behind him. He jumped out of his truck, ran up to the guy and said, Whats going on? I gave you $500 to take these penguins to the zoo! To which the man responded, I did take them to the zoo. But I had enough money left over so now were going to the water park. Jonah was in the belly of the fish for 3 days and then he prayed I dont understand why he did not pray for 3 day

Crisis and crossroads in our lives clarify who we are. It is said that every person has 6 or 7 major events that define who we are. Adam lived 950 years but all we usually focus on is him eating of the fruit Esau lived many years but what we focus on is his trading his birthright for some soup Jonahs name derives from the hebrew word yah yin which by implication means intoxication Wares dress furniture food armor anything prepared The wares were the reason for thejourney Jonah had just bought a ticket on a boat. But in the middle of the storm when the ships crew was afraid and beyond desperate they start tossing overboard their reason for thir journey We begin to throw overboard everything that justifies the trip of your life. Your dream your vision your ambition When we put more weight in our storms than we give glory to god we are going to sink 1Ch_16:28 Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 1Ch_16:29 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Psa_3:3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. Psa_29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Psa_57:11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth. Psa_62:7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Jonah was not the reason for the trip heis what needed to be gotten rid of. I have seen too many people lose their purpose while in lifes storms. I am lonely so I will throw overboard my morality and integrity. I am so depressed that I will throw overboard a clear thinkinggodly Mind andwill self medicate and destroy my temple. Jonah represents the battle inside of all of mankind I want to do what I want and when I want Jonah is representative of flesh gone wild It does not wantyou to live for god Jonah does not want you to be true to god true to yourmarriage or true to your ministry Hell let you throw your kids honor integrity word faithfulness time treasure talent overboard Jonah will let throw relationship after relationship overboard and all the while he is the one that need to be thrown overboard. Its the churches fault, preachers fault etc.

Jonah doesnt care that there is a large city of between 600,000 and 1 million people who are going to be destroyed unless he preaches and they repent. faussett They found Jonah asleep in the bottom of the ship Jonah is that intoxicant that diminishes our mental and spiritual faculties so that those who were once wise become fools. He does not care that there is a bunch of sailors that are going to die unless he does. Is there someone here that has been throwing the wrong things overboard? The storm has caused you to throw your wares overboard? When the storm is raging it is not time to throw your heritage overboard or prayer or consecration overboard it is time to throw Jonah overboard. The mariners were afraid the storm was tempestuous and they were rowing hard trying to get to land They were trying to lighten the load and was getting rid of all the wrong things but as soon as they threw Jonah overboard David with all of his shortcomings and sin always came back to god so much so that his purpose of building god a house became Solomon his sons puropose for he said in 1Ki 5:5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God Carl Yung, the famous psychiatrist said, "I dont know the meaning of life or the purpose of life, but it looks as if something were meant by it Joseph Taylor wrote a book entitled "I Have No Answers to the Meaning of Life - And I No Longer Want to Search for Any." ISAIAH 49:5a And now the Lord says He who formed me in the womb to be His servant ISAIAH 49:4 But I said, I have labored to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing Act 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; In Acts 13:36a, the Bible states that David accomplished God's purpose in serving his generation by fulfilling Gods will. David dedicated his life to fulfilling God's purposes for him while he was alive on earth. God is still looking for Christians who will live on godly purpose. Consecrate yourself to do God's will in your time and generation. That is what the purpose of life is all about Only one life it will soon be past, only what is done for Christ will last! Will you live faithfully for God and serve Him in your generation?
