The Fear of the Lord By Benedikt Schwabe

Moses began with the f ear of the Lord. T hen He met the God of grace. T he jailor of Paul and Silas came f irst trembling and then Paul told him that if he would believe he would be saved. First the f ear of the Lord and then the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We need to f ollow the order of our Lord. T he f ear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. T his means if we do not f ear the Lord we will not have real wisdom. T he f ear of the Lord is not just respect. It is trembling f ear. A f ear that cleanses you. A f ear that keeps you f rom doing evil. Imagine what this f ear could do in your lif e! You would be af raid to commit any sin and wanted to obey every commandment! It is a divine f ear. It is not demonic! T his f ear is the same f ear that the tomb keepers experienced as they saw the angels at the grave of Jesus. Difference Between Fear and Reverence Reverence is not the same. T here is a dif f erence even made in Hebrews 12:28, Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. We can clearly see the dif f erence between reverence and godly f ear. Jeremiah 5:22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? Cannot this consuming f ire provoke some f ear in us? Cannot it make us tremble? As I meditated on the f ear of the Lord I realized that this revelation would change us a lot. We would not criticize our Lord f or what He is doing but would rather thank Him in godly f ear. Another positive aspect is that we would not have any other f ear anymore. We can only f ear one God! 2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. In the f ear of God we will be cleansed. Let us pursue this f ear of God to perf ect holiness! 1Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear. We pass our time of sojourning here in f ear. Love One Another Ephesians 5:21 Submit yourselves one to another in the fear of God. We will be willing to submit ourselves, because we do not look too much to our pride but in f ear we obey the commandment of God to love one another and to humble ourselves and to think of the other one higher than ourselves.

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. We hear much about how to make money in these days. We hear much about prosperity. Good things. But one of the ways you get riches is the f ear of the Lord. Why? When you f ear the Lord you will be trusted by God to administrate the riches. You will get honour. Healing of your wounds are included in this. Honour of men and God. Many of our wounds are still ef f ecting us, because we cannot let go of anger towards men and God. If we would f ear God, these wounds and this anger would be taken care of . You will experience real abundant lif e, because you give God all the glory. Revelation 14:6-7 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. An eternal gospel can never be changed. It was always the same and will be always the same. T he Whole Duty of Man Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. T his is very strong. T he conclusion of the whole matter is to f ear God and be obedient to Him. T his is the whole duty of man. Psalm 112:1-10 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. 2. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. 3. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth forever. 4. Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5. A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. 6. Surely he shall not be moved forever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. 7. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. 8. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. 9. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. 10. The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish. You will be Blessed Your children will be greatly blessed when you f ear Him. Wealth and riches will be yours. You will be blessed as an upright man that f ears Him. Light will arise in your darkness. Your righteousness will be f orever. You will not be af raid of evil tidings. Your heart will not be moved. Your enemies will be destroyed, because he will f ight f or you. Is this not amazing? So many blessings f or f earing the Lord. I believe I know now why the devil tried to steal the f ear of the Lord f rom us. T here are about 365 verses about f earing Him. Let us ask the Lord to give us the spirit of the f ear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2-3). He said if we would ask us f or Holy Spirit that He would gladly give us His Spirit. God bless you!
