Application The CP 341 communications module is used for fast, powerful serial data exchange over point-to-point connections, off-loading the CPU from communications tasks. It can be used in the SIMATIC S7-300 and in the ET 200M (with S7 as master). Point-to-point connections can be established to e.g.: SIMATIC S7 and SIMATIC S5 automation systems and systems from many other manufacturers Robot control systems Modems Scanners, bar code readers, etc. RS 232C (V.24) 20 mA (TTY) RS 422/RS 485 (X.27)

The module is available in three versions with the following physical attributes:

Design The communications module has the following characteristic features: Rugged plastic enclosure LEDs for "Send", "Receive" and "Fault" Communications interface

Functions A number of implemented standard protocols enable data exchange with the most varied link peers: ASCII For links to non-Siemens systems with simple transmission protocols, such as protocols with start and End characters or protocols with block check characters. The interface's handshake signals can be scanned and controlled via the user program. 3964(R) For links to Siemens controllers or non-Siemens components via the standardized, open Siemens 3964(R) protocol. Also implemented are a 3964(R) driver with default values and a programmable 3964(R) driver. RK 512 for computer links. Customer-specific protocols (reloadable drivers).

Parameter Initialization The CP 341 communications module is particularly user-friendly and easy to initialize: The user specifies the module's characteristic features via a parameter assignment tool integrated in STEP 7, for example

Which implemented protocol driver is to be used or Which driver-specific features are to be utilized

Parameter initialization via CPU; The PG is simply connected to the CPU. The configuring data are placed in a system data block which is stored in the CPU. Configuration package (on CD-ROM); Includes electronic manual, parameter assignment forms and standard function blocks for communication with the CP.

CP-343-1
Overview Connection of SIMATIC S7-300 to Industrial Ethernet. Communication services: ISO transport protocol PG/OP communication S7 communication S5-compatible communication (SEND/RECEIVE and FETCH/WRITE).

Automatic switching between AUI and industrial twisted pair interface. Remote programming over the network. PG/OP communication across network through S7 routing. Module changeover without PG. Configuration of CP 343-1 with optional NCM S7 package for Industrial Ethernet (already integrated in STEP 7 from V.5).

Application The CP 343-1 is the communication module of SIMATIC S7-300 for Industrial Ethernet on ISO transport protocol basis. With its own processor, it relieves the CPU of communication tasks and permits additional connections to be established. Communication possibilities for S7-300 through CP 343-1 with: Programming devices, processors, HMI devices Other SIMATIC S7 systems SIMATIC S5 PLCs.

Design The CP 343-1 offers all the advantages of the SIMATIC S7-300 system design: Compact design;the rugged plastic housing contains, at its front: 15-pin sub D female connector with slide latch for connection to Industrial Ethernet (automatic changeover between AUI and twisted pair interfaces). 4-pin terminal strip for connection of the external 24 V DC supply. Simple installation: The CP 343-1 is snap-mounted on the S7-300 rail and connected to adjacent modules via the bus connectors. There are no slot rules. User-friendly connection; Sub D female connector with automatic switching between AUI and twisted pair interface. The CP 343-1 can be operated without a fan. A back-up battery is not required.

In combination with IM 360/361, CP 343-1 can also be used in an expansion rack (ER).

Functions The CP 343-1 independently handles data traffic over Industrial Ethernet. The module has its own processor. Layers 1 to 4 comply with international standards. CP 343-1 works in multi-protocol operation for the following communication services: PG/OP communication With PG/OP communication, all S7 stations connected to the network can be remotely programmed. S7 routing With S7 routing, PG/OP communication can be used across the whole network. S7 communication For connection to S7-300 (server only), S7-400 (server and client), HMI devices and PCs (with SOFTNET S7 or S7-1613). Communication takes place through the CP 343-1 without any further configuration. S5-compatible communication (SEND/RECEIVE and FETCH/WRITE) Based on layer 4 (ISO transport), this is the simple, optimized interface for data communication through ISO transport connections. Up to 8 Kbytes of data can be transmitted. S5-compatible communication is used for communication from SIMATIC S7 to SIMATIC S5, SIMATIC S7300/ S7-400 and processors/PCs. The required function components are an integral part of NCM S7 for Industrial Ethernet and should be incorporated in the S7 application program. Direct access to the CPU data, as for the CP 1430, is also possible through S5-compatible communication (SEND/RECEIVE), enabling the continued use of existing HMI systems. Configuration For configuring the CP 343-1, STEP 7 or STEP 7 and NCM S7 for Industrial Ethernet are required. NCM S7 is completely embedded in the STEP 7 environment. From version 5, NCM S7 is an integral part of STEP 7 and is therefore always the appropriate version for STEP 7. NCM S7 can no longer be ordered as a separate product. From NCM S7 version V5, a single-user license is no longer required. From STEP 7/NCM S7 version 5, the CP's configuration data can also be stored on the CPU and remain intact during a power failure. Module changeovers can therefore be performed without reloading the productive information from a PG. During startup, the CPU transmits the configuration data to the CP. Here, the memory size of the S7 CPU must be observed. All function blocks (FC) required for S5-compatible communication as well as examples are included in the package. Designed for Industry

Direct integration of S7-300, even in complex systems, via Industrial Ethernet. Investment protection for existing installations through integration of SIMATIC S7-300 using S5-compatible communication (SEND/RECEIVE and FETCH/WRITE). Flexible application through automatic media switching (AUI/ITP) and freely selectable slots. One module for various applications: programming device/PC, HMI systems, SIMATIC S5/S7.

New version of CP 343-1 The new CP 343-1 for SIMATIC S7-300 will replace the current CP 343-1 and CP 343-1 TCP communications processors . They are equipped with new hardware and the following additional functions: 10/100 Mbit/s full duplex connection with autosensing for automatic changeover RJ45 for connection to subnetworks situated in areas with low levels of electro-magnetic interference

CP-341
Application The CP 343-1 IT for the SIMATIC S7-300 features the same functions as the CP 443-1 IT and will have the following additional functions: 10/100 Mbit/s full-duplex connection with autosensing for automatic changeover RJ45 for connection to sub-networks situated in areas with low levels of electro-magnetic interference

ACTIVE BUS MODULE

Removal and Insertion during operation Should it be necessary to swap boards during operation due to high availability requirements, a special version of the ET 200M is appropriate: the I/O addition for Removal and Insertion of modules during operation. This allows modules to be inserted and removed without having to switch off the ET 200M subsystem. The I/O addition consists of backplane modules which are assembled to form a backplane bus of the required length, and a matching mounting rail. A complete subassembly can be ordered for the standard length of 19 inches (482 mm). There are three types of I/O additions for Removal and Insertion: with IM 153-1 interface module with IM 153-2 interface module, for active support of HART devices and FM 355

Note: Please note that a PS 307 load power supply must be inserted for each I/O addition if a central DC 24 V supply is not present. Installation The bus modules are hooked into the standard rail, pushed next to one another or secured by lateral plug connectors. The modules can then be swung into the bus modules, and make contact with the bus module plugs when screwed tight. The plugs of unoccupied slots are protected by backplane bus covers, and a bus module cover is connected to the side of the last bus module.

Process I/Os

The modular ET 200M I/O station with degree of protection IP 20 can be extended by the signal and function modules of the SIMATIC S7-300 automation system. The large range of available modules means that it is suitable for individual and complex automation tasks. The ET 200M is a passive station (slave) on the PROFIBUS-DP fieldbus. Communication via the bus system is carried out via the master interface module in the automation system and the IM 153-1 interface module. The ET 200M I/O station provides diagnostic functions for: Module faults Short-circuit of outputs Bus faults, i.e. faulty data transmission DC 24 V load power supply.

Diagnostics data are evaluated locally using diagnostic LEDs on the ET 200M or centrally by means of the CPU in the automation system (station-specific and code-specific diagnosis). All recorded diagnostics data are also available at a diagnostics interface. The ET 200M is available with two designs: Design with bus connectors Design with active bus modules (replacement of modules possible during operation). Should it be necessary to swap boards during operation due to high availability requirements, a special version of the ET 200M is appropriate: the I/O subsystem "Removal/insertion". This allows modules to be inserted and removed without having to switch off the ET 200M subsystem. The I/O subsystem for removal/insertion consists of backplane modules which are assembled to form a backplane bus of the required length, and a matching mounting rail. A complete subassembly can be ordered for the standard length of 19 inches (482 mm). Please refer to the individual parts listed in the Ordering data for further components (bus connector, bus modules etc.). Please note that a PS 307 load power supply must be inserted for each I/O subsystem "Removal/insertion" if a central DC 24 V supply is not present. The bus modules are hooked into the standard rail, pushed next to one another or secured by lateral plug connectors. The modules can then be swung into the bus modules, and make contact with the bus module plugs when screwed tight. The plugs of unoccupied slots are protected by backplane bus covers, and a bus module cover is connected to the side of the last bus module. The ET 200M comprises: IM 153-1 interface module for connection to PROFIBUS-DP Various I/O modules linked via bus connectors or plugged onto active bus modules A power supply if necessary.

The modules are mounted on a rail. The arrangement is defined during configuring of the hardware using COM PROFIBUS. When using the ET 200M distributed I/Os with AC 120/230 V power supplies, the PS 307 load power supply is connected on the input side of the IM 153-1 interface module. The IM 153-1 interface module is required to connect the modular ET 200M I/O station to PROFIBUS-DP. The ET 200M then operates as a slave on the PROFIBUS-DP. Up to eight I/O modules from the SIMATIC S7 range can be connected to the IM 153-1 interface module.
