Clark Grade Level (s)/Subject Area(s): Mathematics Instructions to the teacher candidate: Please reflect on your professional performance, and respond to each of the following prompts. 1. In terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, what are your professional strengths? How have you built on these strengths so far, and how do you plan to do so in the future?

APS 6, Content Knowledge is one of my professional strengths. I have built on this strength by studying and relearning the material before I teach it to the students. In the future I plan to take classes that will sow me different techniques to use to teach certain standards. APS 5, Instructional Strategies is one of my professional strengths. I have built on this strength by trying different strategies in the classroom to benefit my students in areas I know they arent strong in. In the future I plan to constantly try different strategies in the classroom so that my students can succeed. APS 7, Monitoring/ Enhancing Learning is another one of my professional strengths. Im constantly monitoring my students to see if they understand or not or if I should present the content differently. I plan to continue doing this in my classroom in the future. 2. In terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, what are your professional challenges? How do you plan to meet these challenges?

Short Range and long range planning are my professional challenges. I find it hard to over plan for things, sometimes I will run out of things to do before the class is actually over. In future I will over plan, I will create extra activities in case the students master the standards quickly. I will also give them more opportunities to practice new skills. 3. Describe your students overall progress and achievement. What insights have you gained into ways to improve student progress and achievement?

Overall my students are progressing in my magnet classes and a few in my regular classes. Ive encouraged a number of them to read more books outside of class and the media specialist said the number of students that passed their Accelerated reader test this nine weeks double so I believe its working. If you can find tings that relate to the students and their thoughts you can old their attention better. I took a few to the library and picked out books with them based on what I notice about their interest in class. 4. How will you use the knowledge you have gained through this professional selfassessment to promote your continuous professional growth and collaboration?

I will focus on my weaknesses that I identified on this professional self-assessment. When I get my own classroom I will work harder and with other teachers to better my planning skills. I will continue to nurture my strengths so that they become better.
