Almond Biscuits
An easy treat anyone can make, these almond biscuits are a must for all those who love almonds.

Ingredients
Be-Ro Self Raising Flour salt caster sugar ground almonds margarine almond essence

Quantity
175 g pinch 75 g 50 g 150 g few drops

Baking Instructions
Heat oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4. Grease two baking trays. Mix together the dry ingredients, rub in the margarine. Add the essence and mix well. Bring together using your hands. Roll out thinly and cut into rounds. Place half a blanched almond on each. Place on a baking tray and bake for fifteen minutes.

Chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients
margarine soft light brown sugar syrup Be-Ro Self Raising Flour chocolate chips

Quantity
100 g (4 oz) 75 g (3 oz) 2 x 15 ml spoon (2 tbsp) 175 g (6 oz) 100 g (4 oz)

Baking Instructions
Heat oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4. Grease two baking trays.Beat the margarine until soft, add the sugar and cream together until light and fluffy.Stir in the syrup, flour, chocolate chips and milk and mix well. Place spoonfuls of the mixture on the prepared trays and bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the tray immediately and place on a wire rack to cool.

Gingerbread People

Ingredients
Be-Ro Self Raising Flour ground ginger caster sugar margarine golden syrup milk

Quantity
300 g (10 oz) pinch 3 x 5 ml spoon (3 tsp) 100 g (4 oz) 50 g (2 oz) 3 x 15 ml spoon (3 tbsp) 4 x 15 ml spoon (4 tbsp)

Baking Instructions
Heat oven to 160C, 325F, Gas Mark 3. Grease a baking tray. Place flour, salt and ginger in a bowl. Warm sugar, fat and syrup together and add to the dry ingredients. Mix well. Add milk and mix to a firm consistency. Knead lightly with hands. Roll out and cut out shapes or shape bodies, arms, legs and head and place on the baking tray. Mark the eyes with currants and put some down the body, use a piece of glac cherry for the mouth and bake for about 10-15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly then carefully lift onto a wire rack. Decorate with coloured Glac Icing(see above). N.B. Biscuits made with syrup are often soft after baking but will become crisp on cooling.

Banana Tea Bread


Banana bread is perfect for using up overripe bananas the browner they are the better.

Ingredients
Be-Ro Self Raising Flour bicarbonate of soda salt, butter, caster sugar eggs, beaten bananas weighed with skin, peeled, mashed

Quantity
225 g (8 oz) 1 x 1.25 ml ( tsp) pinch, 75 g , 175 g 2 medium 450 g (1 lb)

Baking Instructions
Heat oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4. Grease and line the base of a 1 kg (2 lb.) loaf tin. Mix together flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt. Cream the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy, add the eggs a little at a time alternately with the flour.

Jam Tarts
Jam tarts are perfect for baking with children. Swap the homemade jam for shop- bought if youre short on time.

Ingredients
Be-Ro Plain Flour lard, margarine cold water to mix Jsm Filling

225 g 50 g , 50 g 25 g (1 oz)

Baking Instructions
Mix flour and salt in basin, rub in fat. Using a knife to cut and stir, mix with cold water to form a stiff dough. Turn dough on to a floured surface and knead lightly. Roll out and use as required. Self raising flour may be used. the pastry will have a more cake-like texture.

Madeira Cake
Madeira cake is a sponge cake in traditional English cookery.

Ingredients
butter or margarine caster sugar eggs, lightly whisked Be-Ro Self Raising Flour lemon essence

Quantity
150 g (5 oz) 150 g (5 oz) 3 medium 225 g (8 oz) few drops

Baking Instructions
Heat oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4. Grease an 18 cm (7 inch) cake tin. Cream fat and sugar, beat in lightly whisked eggs with a little flour. Add essence, then fold in the remaining flour. Bake for about 1 hours. Place peel on top after half an hour in the oven.

Pancakes
Not just for pancake day. The perfect easy recipe for dessert.

Ingredients
Be-Ro Plain Flour salt egg milk (or milk and water)

Quantity
100 g (4 oz) pinch 1 medium 300 ml ( pint)

Baking Instructions
For each pancake, heat a small amount of oil in the frying pan. When it begins to smoke, stir the batter and place approximately 3 x 15 ml spoon (3 tbsp) into the pan. When golden brown underneath, turn and cook other side. Turn out on greaseproof paper, sprinkle with sugar and roll up. Place on a hot dish and serve immediately with syrup, lemon or orange juice.

Quiche Lorraine
You can serve this classic French egg dish, featuring bacon and Swiss cheese, as a main course.

Ingredients
Short crust Pastry Streaky bacon, chopped Cheese, grated Eggs Milk

Quantity
100g 100 g (4 oz) 75 g (3 oz) 2 medium 150 ml ( pint)

Baking Instructions
Heat oven to 190C, 375F, Gas Mark 5. Line an 18 cm (7 inch) flan dish or sandwich tin with pastry. Fry the bacon lightly, then cool. Place half the cheese in the pastry case and cover with bacon. Beat the eggs and milk together, season and pour over the cheese and bacon. Sprinkle on remaining cheese. Bake for about 40 minutes until set and golden brown.
