    DearSirorMadam: Ms.MaryMcEwanhasaskedthatIwritealetterofrecommendationinsupportofherapplicationfora teachingpositioninyourschooldistrict.IcanhonestlysaythatitiswithextremepleasurethatIdoso.Ihave hadtheopportunitytogettoknowMarywellduringheryearsatMountSaintMaryCollege.Asafreshman Marydemonstratedamaturitybeyondheryearsandatruedesiretobeanexcellentstudentineverysense oftheword.ItbecameapparentearlyonthatMaryhasastrongdesiretonotonlyachieveexcellentgrades buttofullyunderstandthematerialbeingpresented.Sheneverfailstoquestion,orattempttodelvedeeper intotopicsbeingdiscussed. MarywasnotonlyastudentofmineinEcologybutshealsoworkedwithmeonavegetationanalysis performedattheMohonkPreserveduringthesummerof2011.AsastudentMaryperformedwellabove averagecompletingallassignmentsontimeandwithgreatcareandattention.DoingresearchwithMarywas ajoy.Shedemonstratedagreatdealofselfdirectionandcompletedalltasksaskedofherinaverytimely manner.Uponcompletionoftheprojectsheproducedaverycomprehensivereportandaposterthatwas deliveredtotheEnvironmentalConsortiumofHudsonValleyColleges&Universities.

AlongwithheracademicprowessMaryhasprovedtobeanactiveandvaluablememberofouracademic community.Shewasaresidenceassistant,studentrepresentativetothedivisionofnaturalsciences, PresidentofBetaBetaBeta(anationalbiologicalhonorsociety),peertutorinbothchemistryandbiology andthelistgoesonandon.InthesecapacitiesMarydidnotsimplyusethemasresumebuildersbutrather shehasbeenanactiveparticipant,contributingsignificantlyinallinstances.
