From the Principals Desk
I congratulate the Editorial team on bringing out this issue of the Interface on the occasion of our
Founder Chairmans birth anniversary. Our revered Founder Chairman, Padmabhushan Dr. B.V. Raju, was
indeed a friend, a philosopher, guide, philanthropist and an altruist driven by an innate passion to promote
education of the highest quality from KG to PG and then on to frontier research (the cutting edge as we
understand it today). Of our Founder Chairman, it can be said that
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime
and, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time
True to the words of Dr. Abdul Kalam, as an educationalist our Founder Chairman has built the capacities
of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and has indeed
become their role model.
BVRIT has been in existence for a decade and is growing from strength to strength. This year (2007-2008),
we celebrate the completion of 10 years. The decennial celebrations were launched by Prof A.P.J. Abdul
Kalam on 16
th
of Aug 2007 when he visited our Institute. It is often said that any Institution is only as good
as its students. Our students at BVRIT have excelled in almost every field of student endeavour Academics,
Sports, Cultural activities, Social Service and Placements in reputed Industries/MNCs. Last year four of our
CSIT students were invited by Microsoft to demonstrate their project at the latters Headquarters at Seattle,
USA. They were short-listed from 180 odd entries the World over. Many more of our students have
received accolades and brought laurels to this Institute by presenting high quality papers, by designing and
realising innovative projects or by winning sports competitions. Placements for the 2004-08 Batch have
already crossed 200 mark even as more and more companies queue up to visit the BVRIT campus. I exhort
all students to maintain this momentum and scale greater heights.
The campus is now assuming a modern look and I see a new-found vibrancy amongst the staff and students.
Our Institute is indeed poised to become the numero uno amongst all educational Institutions in A.P. in
the next few years. I welcome the 2007-2011 batch to our fold and encourage them to use the facilities
created for them in terms of the English lab, computer centres, library, broadband Internet connectivity,
play fields and so on.
Prof. T. S. Surendra
Prof. A. P. J. ABDUL KALAMS VISIT
The Missile Man of India was at our college on 16
th
of October 2007, his effort in making India one
of the only developing countries to excel in the field of Space and Missile research was more directed
to inspire all of us to dream and dream big. And one such dream of our chairman was the reason he
was here. Dr. Kalam inaugurated VIPER and the auditorium of the college. It was a moment of pride
and honor for all of us to have him do the honors. Apart from the regular ceremony the students of
our college also had an illustrious presentation of both Art and Science.
In the art, we had a display dedicated to our ex-President. We had moments captured right from
Rameshwaram to Rashtrapathi Bhavan. A picture gallery of our Founder Chairman emblazoned on one
sidewall of the auditorium and along the other side we had an exhibit of the students art. The students
art ranged from ideas about future India to lovely pencil sketches & paintings of many characters. It was
a place to be and experience the feeling of being a BVRITian.
We had a variety of projects on display that caught Dr. Kalams attention. Few of these were the projects
developed indigenously by our students at BVRIT. After this brief tour of the exhibits the tiny tots of
the Vishnu Public School escorted him to the main arena. The gathering more than 3000 in number was
excited to see the LEGENDARY PERSONALITY. He struck the perfect chord with the younger generation.
A small cultural program and his speech followed for the day. The ex-President spoke on various issues,
the crux being his very own formula for success Dreams Dreams and more Dreams and how we fulfilled
them. The speech was an inspiration to all of us, the vibes of which are still felt. Dr. Kalam presented
awards to the meritorious students of our college, we are very sure that it must have been a dream
come true to every student who have received the award from the man himself. Last but not the least,
we had our Chairman Sir giving away the memento to Dr. Kalam. It was a veena specially made in
Vijayanagaram. The students on their behalf gifted a portrait of Dr. Kalam to him. He was glad to take
it with him.
After this wonderful time with the Big Man of our country it was time for us to bid him farewell. But
I am sure memories of that day are sure to be treasured by one and all.

Projects:
CARDIAC ROBO :
We see a lot of patients suffering from heart diseases in and around India. Though there are many
Government and Private Hospitals, scarcity of nurses and other healthcare staff who can continuously
keep an eye on the patient and observe the various parameters like pulse rate, heart rate variability,
temperature, blood pressure etc; and alert the doctor in case of emergency is observed. Considering
all these factors, three students of 3
rd
year Biomedical engineering-Vinay Meher, Subhashini & Pavani
gave a new way of approach to this problem by presenting an idea of CARDIAC ROBO.
This robot will keep an eye on patient who has undergone open-heart surgery and other major heart
surgeries. The robot will take the inputs from the ECG machine and calculate the heart rate. If the heart
rate varies from normal range the robot starts thumping on the thorax of the patient there by trying to
maintain the normal heart rate. If the patient still doesnt recover then it will give an alarm alerting the
doctor.
This robot has been presented in the ROBOCAMP-07 on 22
nd
of May 2007 at IIIT-HYDERABAD, which

ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
The EEE department is a buzzing livewire electrocuting anything and everything on its way. The students of
the department are bent on burning their mark out here and the teachers are definitely pouring oil to it.
We EEEians are trying to set a mark in every field be it science, arts, sports, or social service.
Our activities
Our department 4
th
years have definitely kept the placement cell hot with many of them making through
the top companies and leading the blaze is Satyaveer cracking through most of them. A group of 3rd years
are working their heads out in building a self sufficient village model which they are planning to implement
very soon. Not to forget, the 2
nd
years, are busy making substation models and automated street light
systems. Not just that a few of them like Karthik and Arvind have also made small sized robotic projects
and presented a paper on white led, they did bag a prize for that.. A handful of 3
rd
years to mention few
Vijay, Sudheer, have done projects with Vedatronics, a company run by one of the ex-BVRITian. These
projects were on display for none other than Dr.Kalam. He was impressed by the way our students projected
their ideas. Apart from technical activities we had our students Swetha, Preetha and Sujai organizing
Dr.Kalams event. Swetha was also selected to represent our college for Young Women Engg meet for
Leadership at Infosys, Mysore. We also had Anirudh, Bhargavi, Pujitha and Swetha attending a Conference
on Information science, technology and management organized by CII. At present the department is busy
with their technical fest SPRAVA07 to be organized on 17
th
and 18
th
of October.
Apart from the usual class room activities we have the third years going for some field work to Srisailam
substation a few months back and a month ago our 2
nd
and 3
rd
years went to Narsapur substation. Also the
third years were out on their industrial tour in the month of October. They visited a transformer
manufacturing unit named Padmavahini Transformers Ltd. in Coimbatore, after which they had a tour of
south India right from Kodaikanal to Kanyakumari. The tour undoubtedly gave some memorable moments
for the students.
As it is said man is known more for what he does for others than for himself, in the same way our department
had a social service activity. The students went to Mother Theresas orphanage and donated a lot of things
and also spent sometime with the tiny tots there.
