Web 2.0 Project LaShanda Aiken March 8, 2013 Technology for Teachers Dr. Vanderburg Mr.

McClean

In this paper I will be talking about three tools from Web 2.0 and how I would use them in my classroom. Web 2.0 is about revolutionary new ways of creating, collaborating, editing and sharing user-generated content online. It's also about ease of use. Teachers and students can master many of these tools in minutes. Technology has never been easier or more accessible to all. I would like to teach pre-k or kindergarten. My first tool is Netflix. Netflix is an US-based provider of streaming media delivered through the Internet. There are loads of great educational and children-friendly TV shows and films on there. I will be able to use Netflix in many ways in the classroom. Every show that I would show my students will have a lesson or moral behind it. My students will also be able to My second tool is Geogebra. Geogebra is a fabulous tool for any math teachers and students. Also GeoGebra is free and multi-platform dynamic mathematics software for all levels of education that joins geometry, algebra, tables, graphing, statistics and calculus in one easy-touse package. It has received several educational software awards in Europe and the USA. Math teachers are able to look at mathematical concepts. My third tool is Steam. Steam is a website where you can buy PC games. By using this website teachers are able to purchase educational games for the PC. Steam also have over 2,000 games from Action to Indie and everything in-between. Since there are only a certain number of computers in the classroom, I can divide the class into groups. When the students are in there groups they would be doing cooperative learning, because they will have to work together to solve and play the games. By the students working in groups they will be working on their communication skills and physical and social development. If the students do not know how to communicate well they will be left behind, because communication is the key. They also have to

know how to move around and think for themselves. Pre-school and kindergarten students have to get use to being away from their parents, especially their mothers. In conclusion Web 2.0 can help teachers all over the world. Web 2.0 helps the teachers to make their classes funnier. It also keeps that students focused and interested in what their teachers are teaching. Once you have your students attention, they will be willing to learn anything.
