Most industrial processes generate dust. Removal of the dust in bag filters enables profitable recovery of processed material while preventing pollution of the environment The FLS Filtax Jet Pulse filter is a modular unit consisting of up to 40 modules arranged in one or two strings. The dust-laden air enters at the top of the filter casing through a prechamber which distributes the air between the filter bag compartments. The dust is deposited on the bags made of needlefelt, while the air passes through the felt into the clean air chamber at the top of the casing before being released to the atmosphere. The bags are cleaned at regular intervals by ultrashort bursts of air.

The dust dislodged from the bags falls direct into a bottom trough and is recycled to the production process via an air sluice. The bags are cleaned one row at a time. The bursts of air are triggered by an electronic control unit based on the pressure drop through the filter. This operating principle ensures a constant flow and pressure drop and means that the frequency of dust removal is adjusted to the current load of dust. The risk of clogging in the pipe system is thus minimised, and maximum bag life is ensured by cleaning only when necessary. The preset level of jet pulse release is generally 125 mm WG, but other settings may be used. A filter module contains the following components: 1 compressed air tank 5 membrane valves

casing 5 injection pipes 50 supporting cages with built-in injectors, the cages can be divided in the middle 50 filter bags The supporting cages and the filter bags are fixed to the top plate at two points. Each module has a decompression cover and filter bags can be replaced from the clean air side without interrupting the function of the other filter modules. Under each string of filter modules runs a trough at the bottom of which are screw conveyors for dust removal. Inspection doors provide access to the bearings which are prepared for a central lubrication system.

The filter is prepared for insulation with 75 mm mineral wool. The top of the filter may be enclosed in a protective casing (optional). All types of industrial dust can be handled. Coal dust filters have special features to prevent explosions and fires. The filter is designed for 24 hour continuous operation and requires minimal maintenance. Filter operating costs are very often offset by the value of the material recovered. Besides, effective dedusting prevents shutdown of the plant, and pollution of the environment is reduced as required in each case.
