A new internship program began at the ReStore. Creativity Abounded at the ReStore on Pinterest Day!

The ReStore would like to thank volunteer, Melinda Kintz, for all her work organizing the Pinterest Day at the ReStore on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Special crafty items were set up on display encouraging customers to create their own unique merchandise. Sturdy hardwood chairs, donated from the Extended Stay America renovations, were sanded and repainted in white, black, or red. Seat cushions were removed to be re-upholstered with a variety of available fabrics chosen by the shopper. Plaque displays made from coat hooks, boards, ribbon, and white tiles were available to give the patrons ideas on special wall hangings. Buyers loved the special day and the items received a lot of attention.

St. Patricks Day Parade

Saturday, March 16th in Naperville, several ReStore employees and volunteers marched the streets of downtown alongside the new ReStore parade float to celebrate St. Patricks Day. A few weeks prior to the parade, a kiosk was donated to the ReStore from the Westfield Fox Valley Shoppingtowne. A comment was made about it looking perfect for a parade. Thus, the idea was born and volunteer, Melinda Kintz, organized the event and entered the ReStore in the parade. With a donated trailer, some fresh paint, and dcor, the ReStore parade float was born. Plans are in the works for future parades. Look for us in the Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades coming up in Aurora.
