Please mark you calendars and plan on attending this PTSA general membership meeting. The nominating committee places the following names in nomination for the 2013-2014 school year: Secretary: Joan Deitrich. Co-Treasurers: Cindi Peterson and Stacy Silvernail. Co-Vice Presidents: Pascale LeJeune Fish and Katherine Mattes. Co-Presidents: Clea Moreheart and Teresa Wade.

Navigating Turbulent Waters: Talking with Your Teen about Drugs & Alcohol
Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. Talking to your teenager about drugs and alcohol...the idea evokes fear in most parents. Join Jennifer S. Kennett, family counselor and former addictions clinician for a one-hour session on how to talk with your teen about drugs & alcohol. Topics include: Understanding the current trends in substance use in teens Understanding the new social climate and the influence of social media How to start the conversation How to capitalize on teachable moments How to develop a safety contract and why every parent should have one Warning signs and how to get help. Session to be held on Wednesday April 24th at 7:30PM. Location TBA

With more affordable smart phones and the growth of social media like Facebook and Twitter, everyone is connected. Yes, it is exciting, but how do you protect your children when they participate? Not just from predators but from bad decisions that can impact their lives for years to come? How do you even talk to them about it, let alone understand it?
