The Science and Faith of Health Invited Speakers:


Dr Victor Ling, PhD, OC
Dr Ling is President and Scientific Director of the Canada-wide Terry Fox Research Institute (www.tfri.ca). He is a Distinguished Scientist at the BC Cancer Agency and Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia. He is also Director of the Interdisciplinary Oncology Program, a partnership between the BC Cancer Agency and the University of British Columbia. Dr Ling, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, is the recipient of many awards, including the NCIC Robert L. Noble Prize, AACR Bruce F. Cain Memorial Award, General Motors Kettering Prize, Dr Josef Steiner Cancer Research Award, Gairdner Foundation International Award, Order of British Columbia, and Order of Canada. He has also been awarded honorary degrees from four Canadian universities. A major focus of Dr Lings research is the investigation of mechanisms of resistance to anti-cancer drugs, particularly those mechanisms which involve alteration in the transport of such compounds. He is best known for his discovery of P-glycoprotein associated with multiple drug resistance in cancers. His laboratory is also involved in genomics research to identify genes important in early stage cancers. Dr Lings work to date has been documented in over 200 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr Leigh Arseneau, BSc, ND


Dr Arseneau is a Naturopathic Doctor with a special interest in Functional Medicine. He educates the public on the fundamental causes of disease and aims to restore patients health for optimal long-term outcomes. With a focus on complex, chronic diseases, he treats a wide variety of conditions (www.futureofmedicince.ca).

Dr Gordon Ko, MD, CCFPEM, FRCPC


Dr Ko is a Medical Specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Assistant Professor, University of Toronto. He heads the Canadian Centre for Integrative Medicine, Markham, involving a multidisciplinary team (naturopath, physiotherapist, chiropractor, osteopath) focused on treating chronic pain with expertise in the use of Botox and platelet-rich plasma injections (DrKoPRP.com).
