The way forward What should be the focuses of project-based learning for Secondary 2 students? What kind of training should be provided to familiarize students with firsthand information collection skills such as questionnaire design & interviewing techniques? Role of a cuuriculum coordinator The responsibilities of the Curriculum Coordinator include collaboration with faculty members and faculty committees in the development, writing and implementation of district curriculum, as well as the evaluation, purchase and incorporation of texts, resources and technology into classroom instruction. Working with staff to ensure all curriculum objectives are aligned with New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards and meet the tenets of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation is part of this process. The Curriculum Coordinator facilitates the articulation of curriculum and instructional strategies among and between grade levels, with other elementary sending districts and Voorhees High School.Collaborating with superintendent and principals and working as a team to implement school and district objectives is a critical component of the position. Other duties include 1. investigating and maintaining an up-to-date research library, 2. organizing and conducting professional development, 3. assisting with the districts testing program and 4. writing the curriculum and professional development components of required state reports and plans. The following are some of the varied duties performed during the course of the year: To develop curriculum related and other corresponding components of district plans, including the Technology Plan, Professional Development Plan, Equity Plan, Mentoring Plan; To compile and file state-required surveys; To oversee the districts state testing program, including analysis of test results; To implement state mandated curriculum requirements, including:

To align curriculum with NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards; To provide ongoing evaluation of curriculum maps/curriculum guides, with annual updates of objectives and assessments; To investigate and acquire appropriate and varied resources for implementation of district curriculum K 8; To develop curriculum and activities for Constitution Day and state legislated holidays, including Veterans Day, Memorial Day, etc.; To develop curriculum as required by Holocaust, Amistad and other state Commissions and regulations; To assure compliance with Gifted and Talented legislation, including identification of students; To assure curriculum compliance with NCLB (No Child Left Behind) regulations. To implement district and school professional development requirements, programs and activities, including: -Programs to assure compliance with regulations relating to suicide prevention, drug and -alcohol abuse and other mandated trainings; -On-going subject area and team meetings at both schools; -Staff training on newly adopted programs; -On-going staff training for all existing programs; -Serving as Mentor Coordinator (training all district mentors, working with mentors and novice teachers); -Development and facilitation of CEU professional development courses; -Organization of all in-house staff development training; -Coordination of in-district sharing of strategies and information obtained from out-of-district professional development. To serve as a curriculum resource and/or liaison to:District, school and subject area committees; Shared Decision Making Curriculum Committee; District Technology Committee; District Strategic Plan Committee; Hunterdon County Curriculum Coordinators Committee; Hunterdon County Technology Committee; Regional and Voorhees High School articulation committees. To develop and implement district curriculum initiatives, including: Differentiated Instruction; Problem-Based Learning. To provide input into district policy and oversee compliance with policies; To investigate grant opportunities and preparation of grant applications, including: State and federal entitlement grants;
