AIMS: to introduce new vocabulary to practice reading, listening and speaking skills to practise the acquired knowledge to talk about their favourite sport

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES: At the end of class students will be able: to select specific information from a text to select specific information from a audio except to answer questions relating to their favourite sport to make sentences using the ne words

Activity 1 lead-in Aim:to introduce new vocabulary Procedure: T writes the new words on the blackboard. T hands out pictures illustrating the ne words, Ss will have to match the words with the pictures. Interaction: T-S Classroom organization:lockstep Timing:5 min Activity 2 pre-reading activity Aim: to skim the text for the answers to questions from ex. 1 page 89 Procedure: T splits the class into groups of 5 and asks them to read three questions out-loud. Ss will read the questions and T explains the questions. Ss will have to find the answers ithout actually reading the text. Interaction: T-S, S-T Classroom organization: PW Timing:10 min Activity 3 reading, speaking Aim:to practise reading and speaking Procedure: T asks Ss to read the text. Each S reads one paragraph. Ss will have to summarize in one sentence what they have read. T writes it on the blackboard, Ss copy. Interaction: T-S, S-T Classroom organization:IW Timing:15 min Activity 4 listening Aim: to listen to someone speaking about training for a football team. Procedure: T introduces the exercise, tells Ss what the excerpt will be about. Ss will listen to the recording and answer the questions. Ss will have to write their answers down. Interaction: T-S, S-T Classroom organization: IW Timing:10 min Activity 5 speaking exercise Aim: to talk about a sport of their choice and to use the introduced vocabulary Procedure: T splits the class into groups and gives each group a sport to talk about. Ss can choose a sport if they want to. Ss will have to answer the questions from page 89 exercise 4. One S from each group will have to say their questions in front of the class.
