Socrative - Online Classroom Response System Socrative is a online student response tool that allows teachers to engage their

students through a series of questions accessed by computers and/or mobile devices. There are two types of questions: Single Questions and Quiz Based Activities. Single Question - These are quick impromptu single question quizzes, The results are immediately displayed when the activity is ended. The data can not be saved and is lost when you move to the next question. For this activity, the teacher can write the questions on the board, shore with a powerpoint, or say them aloud. Students can be shown the results from by projecting the teacher account on a screen. Quiz Based Activities - These are pre-planned quizzes. The results from these questions can be saved but not shown immediately. Socrative Account and Equipment Requirements 1 Socrative Account created at socrative.com 2 Teacher Equipment a Computer connected to the internet (http://t.socrative.com) or b Mobile devices with free Socrative Teacher app loaded 3 Student Equipment a Computer connected to the internet (http://m.socrative.com) or b Mobile device with free Socrative Student app loaded 4 Resource Information a Socrative Videos Creating A Quiz for a Quiz Based Activity 1 Request Socrative account at socrative.com 2 Download from iTunes the Socrative app on student and teacher mobile devices (if needed) 3 Login to the http://m.socrative.com/lecturer website with Socrative account information. 4 Note Socrative 5 Create Quizzes a Click the Manage Quizzes link b On the next screen - Click Create a Quiz c On the next screen - Enter a Quiz Name d Uncheck Enable Sharing box e Click the type of question you want, Multiple Choice or Short Answer f Type in the question g Type answers, correct and or incorrect

h Check the box next to the correct answer(s) - you can have more than one correct answer i Repeat E - H to make more questions j Click Save k Note: Questions can be re-arranged or deleted with the tools on the right side of the question window. Using Socrative with Students 1 Student go to student socrative On a computer - Students go to m.socrative.com and enter the Socratice room number On a mobile device - Students open the Socrative app and enter the Socrative room number. a Select a Type of Quiz b Single Question Activities i Project the Teacher Socrative view on screen. ii Select the type of quiz - True and False, Multiple Choice, Short Answer iii Show or say the first question. iv Students respond to the question. v When the responses are completed, click End Activity, and the results will show on the screen. vi Repeat for the next questions. c Quiz Based Activities - See the instructions above for these pre-made quizzes. d Click on Start Quiz e Select a Saved Quiz f Select one of the following i Student Paced Quiz - Students answer questions at their own pace. ii Teacher Paced Quiz - Run a pre-made quiz where you set the pace. 7 Teacher - Click the Live Results button to monitor data as students complete the questions. 8 End Activity when the questions have been completed 9 When the quiz is completed, A window will appear asking about ending the activity with 4 options a Download report to an excel file b Email Report c No Report - ends the activity d Cancel - return to activity
