Pegasus

Chapter 1: Introduction
Greeks believed in many myths and legends to explain the world around them. One vital part of them were mythical creatures. Some of them are part human-part animal, some are mixes of many animals, and some might be giant creatures.

However, one of the most famous of all is the Pegasus. Pegasi are a race of winged horses. Most of them are strong, loyal and free spirited. In greek mythology there also many gods and goddesses who take a vital part in the creation of the rst Pegasus. Find out how.

Chapter 2: History of the Pegasus


The mother of the rst Pegasus was Medusa, a terrible and destructive gorgon. Medusa was so hideous that her eyes could turn the beholder to stone.

Medusa was best known for having snakes for hair. Now you must be asking yourself How can something so beautiful be born from something so horrible? In rst place Medusa wasnt always that ugly.

Once she was a beautiful priest of Athena, goddess of wisdom and war. Her beauty caught the eye of the sea god, Poseidon, one of Athenas rivals.

Soon Athenas temple became their hiding place. Eventually, Athena found out about this and turned Medusa into a gorgon for a punishment.

Later, a greek hero named Perseus managed to cut off her head. Thats when Pegasus and Chrysaor bubbled out of Medusas blood.

Pegasus ew away to a forest and lived there like any wild creature. But, later was tamed by another hero, this one named Belorophon.

Then Belorophon and Pegasus ew to battle against the Chimera, a terrible monster with the head of a re breathing lion, the body of an oversized goat and the thing also had a poisonous snake for a tail.

Pegasus dodged ame during the battle. Finally, Bellorophon killed the Chimera.

This act of bravery made him famous causing him to think he is a god. So he ew with Pegasus to Mt. Olympus home of the gods and goddesses.

The king of gods Zeus did not approve with this so he send a bee to get rid of Belorophon. The bee stung Pegasus and in great pain it dropped Bellorophon to his death

Chapter 3: Apperance

The rst Pegasus was white, so white Pegasi are the most famous of all. But, that doesn't mean that there only white Pegasi.

Pegasi come in different colors. Mostly colors normal horses come in like brown, black, gray, white and spotted.You get the idea.

Chapter 4: Behavior

Most Pegasi are wild and do as they please. But if a Pegasus is tamed it will be loyal to its master.

Many heroes like to tame Pegasi because it is very useful for battle and transportation. There also gods who like to tame it to.

For example, when Belorophon died Zeus tamed the rst Pegasus and gave it a new job: To carry his golden chariot across Olympus.

Chapter 5: Famous
The Pegasus was created eons ago but still remains in people`s mind like all mythical creatures. But, the Pegasus is famous.

Every person in the world knows about its myth. Along with the dragon and the unicorn the Pegasus shares the title of one of the most famous mythical creatures of all time.
