Dr. Teofredo Ted Esguerra of the First Philippine Mt. Everest Team speaks at PUP Quezon City Campus
After 9 months of coordination and scheduling, finally last March 4, 2013, Dr. Teofredo Ted Esguerra came and visited PUPQC as our resource speaker. Dr. Teofredo Ted T. Esguerra is the Expedition & Wilderness Emergency Medical Services Physician of the Philippine Mt. Everest Expedition Team and the Voyage of the Balangay. He is a Flight Surgeon and the Officer-in-Charge of the elite medical rescue team: The Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART) of the Philippine Coast Guard. He is trained in Urban and Wilderness Rescue, Aviation Medicine, Expedition Medicine for Tropical and Alpine Mountain Operations, Tactical Medicine, Disaster Medicine, Aquatic/Dive Medicine and high altitude medicine. Dr. Esguerra spoke to our students on Campus Awareness and Responses in Emergencies. He shared about the most appropriate way to handle events of fire, flood, and earthquake. He explains how important is preparation and having emergency kits in our houses, campuses, and even in your own vehicles. His insights, being exposed in the field of rescuing victims, from these disasters provided the participants a picture of what can possibly happen to people who are unaware of the situation. He also shared some defense tricks to female participants. The seminar was attended by

more than 300 students coming from CWTS, DOMT, and BTE students. A coordinated effort from CWTS Youthnited Force, PUPQC Damlay, PUPQC Medical Office, and the DOMT.Cs organization for making the seminar possible. The organizers would like to acknowledge Prof. Doris B. Gatan, academic head, and Prof. Irynne P. Gatchalian, student services, for the support that they have provided. Also, appreciation is given to Dr. Jennifor L. Aguilar, Dr. Melissa Puno-Sarapuddin, and Prof. Sheryl R. Morales, who have guided their respective organizations in conducting the said event. We also like to mention ICAS-Phils as a partner research organization of the DOMT.Cs.

And the best way to build something special in the workplace is to hire for attitude and train for skill. Congratulations to our first batch of DOMT graduating students. Your achievements will serve as motivation and encouragement to pursue the course with dignity and pride.
